KARLSSON, Wall clock, Aluminium, Black, 90cm

This clock replaces an 18 year old Karlsson clock of the same design. Only problem with the old clock was the hands started dropping down - probably through wear - so accuracy no longer guaranteed. We were so pleased with the cool design of the old clock, we bought the same as replacement. Very affordable too.

Great item. Looks really good up on a blank wall with 5" numbers at 12-3-6-9 around it and at the moment it's keeping time.I purchased 5 inch wooden numbers which you can also buy made of MDF and stuck them onto the wall to avoid painting directly onto the wall and it looks 100% better than just the clock with no numbers.With the arms being so long on this clock I'm not sure how long the battery is going to last due to the extra effort needed for the hands to turn. I'm using a Duracell battery. Date of hanging 20.11.13. I'll update if it stops keeping the correct time or when the battery needs changing.03.01.14. After a week of hanging the clock I noticed that the minute hand was struggling to get from 6 to 12 due to the counterbalance not being correct. This would wear out the battery quickly so I taped a 5p to the back of the minute hand at the short end and the counterbalance is now perfect. I'm still using the same battery and I will update when it needs changing.11.04.14. Still keeping the correct time and the battery is still the same one.17.10.15. Unbelievable, still using the same battery and the clock is keeping perfect time.

What a shame. A great idea, stylish, and then manufactured with so little thought or precision. Mine lasted 2 yrs and stopped. Replacement batteries had no effect, although it will still work flat on a table, but runs out of puff pushing the hands up hill. I tried weighting the minute hand to balance it better, but with no luck. I will order another, and keep returning any that fail, but have to accept this clock will have to be re bought on a regular basis, as we do like the idea, but not the quality. If anyone knows of a similar same sized clock but better made, please post a comment.Update aug17. On my third one, and touch wood still going so far. I would say take a chance and buy one because you can make a whole wall a feature clock. We put small photograph frames at each hand position. What a. Shame it couldn't be made better. I would pay double for improved quality.

Stylish clock second one I have had need to be careful how you handle as delicate

This is a great looking, very stylish clock, but it doesn't work, which means there's no reason to buy it.I've had two of these now; the first one didn't work as the minute hand wouldn't go round without a washer taped to the back and not always even with one. After that one got broken (my fault - I dropped it while resetting it. Again. As the hands are made of very thin, cheap material it crumpled like tinfoil), I bought another one the same as it looked perfect and was cheap. Unfortunately, this doesn't work either. The manufacturers have taken on board all the comments about needing to tape something to the back of the hand and have now added a metal plate there, but I don't know if this is too heavy or not heavy enough but it keeps stopping at 11 o'clock. Every day, twice a day, I have to stand on a chair and reset it.I'm now on the look-out for a large stylish clock that actually works, but after this I would be very nervous of getting anything made by Karlsson, no matter how attractive it is.Do not buy this clock. Yes it looks great and it's cheap, but it's a very poor functional design which makes it a false economy.

It is a lovely clock , very fragile though, you need to be very careful.I had a problem when I put a new battery in and it would not work. Reading comments around the web, I found out that you MUST use a AA LITHIUM battery. I changed the normal AA to a AA LITHIUM and the clock works like a charm.Normal batteries do not have enough power to move those big hands.UPDATE 03 MARCH 2024. Still going strong , no problem what so ever after all this time !

This clock looks great on the wall in front of my desk and fits in well with my 'unconventional' decor which includes large canvas posters. Care needs to be taken while placing the clock on the wall because it is important to ensure that it is straight otherwisethe 'hands' may get tangled. It is also important to use a good quality AA battery because initially when I first put the clock up on the wall it kept losing time but once I put in a well known quality battery the clock has consistently maintained the correct time. This clock is a very good buy and it is much admired by my visitors.

Bought this to replace a broken kitchen clock ...mis measured and it was too big so have it at the top of my stairs as it was too classy and minimalistic to send back!!!! It looks brill and us well made and arrived securely packaged. It has been quite a talking point already...beware though you need a lot if clear wall for it to look right.
