Product Description The iconic original tall boot. At the heart of the hunter original brand and representing hunter’s spirit, this boot has developed from the designs worn by pioneers. Today the original boot is handcrafted from 28 parts and worn by those who lead. The style is built on the original last for exceptional fit and comfort and is made from innovative vulcanised rubber for protection from the weather. Manufacturer's Description In 1856, Henry Lee Norris, an American entrepreneur, landed on Scottish soil in search of a home for his boot making company. Having acquired a block of buildings in Edinburgh, known as the Castle Silk Mills, the North British Rubber Company (which much later became known as Hunter Boot Ltd) was registered as a limited liability company in September 1856. In the beginning there were only four people working for the company, by 1875 the team had grown to 600 members of staff. Production of wellington boots was dramatically boosted with the advent of World War I, when the company was asked by the British government to construct a sturdy boot suitable for the conditions in flooded trenches. The mills ran day and night to produce immense quantities of these trench boots. More than a million pairs were made to cope with the Army's demands. The fashionable boot was now a functional necessity. Hunter's most famous welly, the original Green wellington, was made over 50 years ago in the winter of 1955. It was the first orthopaedic boot that they made and was launched alongside the Royal Hunter--another boot that remains in Hunter's range today. Today, Hunter remains the preferred welly brand for those who like to work hard and play hard--there's a great range of boots to suit welly wearers all over the world--from the Royal Family to festival-goers, working farmers and landed gentry alike.

In love with my new wellies
I must say I wasn't expecting such an amazing product when I ordered my Hunter wellies but I was amazed!!!First of all the price was great(in Portugal they cost a fortune, +/- 130 euros) and the delivery was extra fast! But the surprise was when I opened the box! I've never seen such a beautiful packaging in my live! Last year I bought a pair of wellies that costed me 50 euros and they didn't even had a box (plus they cracked in a week). But Hunter's box was really amazing and the boots were imaculated inside it!And I must confess I worried about the size since I read some reviews saying that the sizes were king of big...but this 5 were really perfect for my feet. They feat like "a glove"!Even the colour (navy) was beautiful! Dark and discrete, perfect match with all of my winter outfits!Couldn't be happier :) I just hope they will last many years!

Simply Fabulous Hunters Wellies 5 Stars
Just received these in UK size 8 in Red. They're a fabulous fit. I have broad feet but these fit perfectly. Very comfy. They're fab fit on the calf but they are narrow. Not gapping at all. They suit me but if you have larger, muscular calves then they're maybe not the ideal fit for you. LOVE THEM. Brilliant price on Amazon. No faults whatsoever. I had previously ordered a different brand of designer wellies but they were ultra narrow. Hunters are simply fabulous.

Good, Sturdy Wellies
I purchased these in November last year when we started with the dreaded wet weather, when they were received they had a tear in the rubber where the metal clip/strap was. Dissapointed and was cursing poor quality, however I contacted Amazon who issued a new pair out to me and these arrived within 2 days. It actually took longer for the courier to come and collect the faulty ones. I must say they are comfy and fit fine and are not faulty! I am a size 5 and calves aren't slim but they fit perfectly I can even wear my jeans in them. My sister also got the adjustable ones as her calves are on the bigger side and they are brilliant too, perfect for the outdoors, sturdy and most of all waterproof!

tight fit
Yet again Hunter wellies are such a tight fit. If you are a slim 13 year old these wellies are just for you. But if you are a slim 55 year old and need wellies for walking dogs and to use for practical wear don't buy them. They are just too tight a fit. I purchased inner socks to go with these wellies and there is no way I can use them as well. Please can Hunter think about sizes, we haven't all got matchsticks for legs.

Great boots
I've had these for a month now and tend to wear them when walking the dog. I've been in the sea with them and encountered no problems with them. Neither have I had any problems with cracking with them. Comfortable to wear( I wear mine with thick socks). All in all I am really glad i bought themUpdate May 2013.The first crack has appeared, one in each of the wellies about half way up. Considering I've had them a few years and that I was practically living in them last winter, I don't suppose they've done too bad. The problem is that when you have paid more you expect more. The cracks are very narrow, not enough to stop wearing them but a shame nevertheless

Stroppy company with appalling customer service skills - read this before purchasing from them
I have been an Amazon Customer for aggggeeees, and this is the first time I have felt compelled to write any kind of negative review, but I feel it important for others to see this before using this company. I received the boots and straight away thought "mmm... not sure they are real". I have had Hunters before, and this pair just didn't feel right to me. So, I took another look at the reviews for them on Amazon and saw that others people had felt the same. Furthermore, on the occasions that the boots did malfunction, getting a refund from this company seemed a nightmare. The boots are not cheap, so I decided to go with my instinct, return them on the basis that they didn't seem quite right, and buy from Hunter direct. Amazon - utterly brilliant as always - approved the request straight away and having boxed the boots up, I gave the matter no more thought. However, I have today received an e-mail from the company stating that I am wrong: that the boots are real, and that if I still want to return them, then "I am welcome" to submit a return request. This was my response:"I have already made a return request - authorised by Amazon - and do not to be told to do this by you, thanks. If someone wants to return something in the "no quibble" 30 day refund period, then don't quibble. And certainly don't send me e-mails telling me I am wrong. No wonder your company gets such bad reviews."Avoid :)
