Just what I needed.
I see people complaining about this tape, they are not using it correctly, I've been using it for months now, at gigs, at rehearsals, in the studio, it sticks to itself not the stick, if you take a few seconds to wrap it tightly around the drumstick where needed it'll never move, I tend to use it on the sticks and also use fingerless drum gloves so when the sweat starts the sticks stay put with a nice loose grip, since using this combination I haven't dropped a stick. I highly recommend this tape, I have now bought 7 rolls so I'm never left short/caught out on gigs etc, I have wrapped it around my fingers which worked but after a bit of experimentation I find the stick and glove technique the most infallible.

improved grip but does go lose on stick
In general i would say it is good it does make your grip much much better by absorbing your sweat in your hand BUT no matter how tight you wrap it around your stick over time it does go lose

Great tape for a sure grip.
Works great, wrapped around my sticks gives a solid feel and no slippage. Just keep a bit of paper or something on the end of the tape on the roll so you can easily find it and to stop it becoming stuck as it's the devil itself to separate.

not very easy to do between songs so I decided to try ...
I've been getting a lot of blisters recently, it's down to a lack of practice between very intense gigs. Plasters (fabric ones) work a treat, but only for about 3 or 4 songs and then I have to replace them, not very easy to do between songs so I decided to try this tape. I play with Vic Firth Dipped sticks, specifically the Gavin Harrison Signature models and unfortunately, i don't think the tape really works with those sticks, maybe it's not supposed to! - but with normal sticks the tape is fantastic.I find it grips very well and lasts a whole set on most places. well worth a try!

Good
Works - I put it on my fingers and it stops me getting blisters, although you have to be careful not to put it on too loose or too tight. Also, make sure you cut off the bit of paper on the end and stick it back on the end when you've cut a bit off, otherwise the whole roll will get stuck together.

Threw it away (updated review)
I think that, as anybody else, I was under the impression that this stick and finger tape would actually stick to something other than itself. It doesn't take long before you wrap the tape around your finger and then it slowly starts to slide out of place. And I think this is mostly due to the fact there's very little "useful" stickiness.Sure, it sticks to itself, but the grip around the finger isn't very tight to begin with, then it's a matter of time until it slides off its position and starts creating problems instead of solving them.In all honesty - and this was probably a problem of the expectation I had - but I was looking for something akin to a simple sports tape, but in black. And so I decided to give this a shot. Not the case.I'm sure this will be good for something. But not for me to use around my fingers to play drums.EDIT: Update on November 27thI finally gave up. I tried my hardest to have the taped neatly wrapped around my fingers, but it amounted to nothing. All that happened was that the tape slowly curls into itself until it forms these little rings that only adhere to themselves. They do absolutely NOT secure themselves to your fingers first, which means that unless you have a fatter / wetter skin, the tape will just slide right off.Incredibly disappointed. It was a complete waste of money.Ended up throwing the tape away.Keep working on this, Vater. Won’t be a customer of yours for now.

Now that I have I am glad that I kept looking
I have been looking for this tape for a few years after I found a pair of sticks with it on after a gig. Now that I have I am glad that I kept looking. The feel of this tape is slightly rough, which I prefer to the leather/plastic feel of hockey stick style grip tape. It also comes in a long roll which covers many more sticks than other grip tapes that usually do two pairs per packet and are much more expensive. The tape sticks to itself so there is no sticky residue left on your sticks if you want to remove the tape. The tape has shifted ever so slightly on my sticks as I've used them, but I think that is just because it was the first time that I've applied this kind of tape. If you make sure to wrap it really tightly I don't think that this will be a problem. The first time I used this tape I got blisters on my hands where I usually don't get them. I worked out that this was from holding the sticks tighter than I needed to. I had been compensating for sweating during gigs by gripping my sticks tighter so that I didn't drop them, but the tighter grip means less control. Now I've adjusted to playing with the tape I have the same control in the middle of a sweaty gig as I do in an air-conditioned practice room. Now my grip is so gentle that I haven't even had the usual blisters.I have also used this tape to correct my grip. I have a habit of shifting my grip too far up or down the stick as I play. By only wrapping the part of the stick that I want to be gripping I can keep my hands in the right place which leads to better technique all round.

Not good for drummers.
This product is not great. Adhesive is weak and it falls apart quite quickly. Anyone looking to buy something like this,...I would recommend - Rock Technologies Finger Support Climbing Tape. Very strong adhesive. Sturdy, durable and goes the distance.

Caused blisters within 20 minutes of use
At first it was amazing, but then came the pain. I've never had so many blisters in my life.

Perfect stick tape that doesn't make the stick thicker: very low profile.
The best part about Vater Stick & Finger Tape is the low profile it gives even double wrapped. When I first bought this tape, I thought it was going to make the shaft of the drumstick (I use Vic Firth Buddy Rich) much thicker than the rest of the stick. And since the sticks I use come pre-painted in white, it seems the surface of the stick has less friction than your natural wood sticks. And did I mention that I HATE drumming gloves? I always thought they looked tacky for some reason. So, I started looking at stick tape that had a thin profile. Like I said before, I thought it was going to change the stick in thickness and in weight. But it made very little difference in the dimension of the stick. It wasn't bulky nor did it add to the back weight of the stick. This tape sticks to itself so no prep work needed on the area that you will be adding the tape to. With over a year of use with this tape, it never slid off. The only reason I'm getting this replacement is because after that much use, the stickiness wears off a bit and it becomes as smooth as the stick itself and therefore slips out of your hand more easily. After getting this tape I noticed that a single wrap looked a little flimsy (like a thin cheese cloth), but it held on fine with my first pair of sticks. However, on my second pair of sticks I decided to double wrap each grip end and I never looked back.If you are tired of your stick flying out of your hand and hitting your guitarist or lead vocalist in the back of the head, then use this stick tape. And if it doesn't do exactly what I said it would do, I'll eat my shorts. I'm telling you, it's the perfect stick tape!!!
