Q: Hinges at RH side when door mounted gap at top larger than bottom - adjustment seems to move door to left making gap bigger !

You have 2 adjustment screws to each hinge the screw on the inside of the cabinet moves the door in or out by slackening it and positioning it the other one moves the door away from the side or brings it in closer by adjusting the screw I hope this helps.

i would not recommend this hinge for a toy box lid

When I first got the hinge I didn't know how to open them. The hinge is very stiff at first, you need a bit of brute force. You may need a flat blade scew drive to prize it open. Once you see the way it opens the next one will be easy.

Are these proper clip on/off - ie press a lever to release from the plate. Some require a screw to be loosened to release.
