YasutomoPearlescent Watercolor Set, 21 Colors-Assorted Colors

As Pearlescent paints go these are above average quality wise in their price bracket. I marked down a star simply because of the quantity in each 'pot' was less than a similar product i have been using for a similar price. In all though I would recommend for beginners and intermediate artists (especially college students).

I purchased these from Amazon, I have ordered from BIC warehouse in the past and waited weeks for the delivery.Amazon delivered the item four days from my ordering, along with additional items I had ordered, the packaging was secure and did not involve endless reams of brown paper, but packed with bubble bags.I was first introduced to metallic watercolour paint when I purchased the Kuritake Gansai watercolours, also through Amazon. At first I doubted whether I would use these and had the paints for some time before I tried the metallics out. I found that adding a small amount to greeting cards which I had painted worked really well, but the metallics of which there are 4 were white, silver, bronze and gold and I wanted some colours.The Yasutomo Pearlesecent watercolour paints shown in the Amazon picture and the description given not only covered the colours i wanted but has also proven to be accurate.The paint box itself is very light in weight, the pans are not removable, and although it looks like you get a lot of paint in each pan which is about the size of a 2 pence coin, as other reviewers have pointed out it is probably just a thin layer of paint, but what you have got to bear in mind it is unlikely you are going to use these paints on a whole picture, but use as an enhancer along with your normal watercolour paints.I tested these out by first making a colour chart, and before starting I lightly sprayed the paints, I found that they mixed really well, and were of a creamy texture.The colours are true to those shown in the pans, and also mix well to make additional colours, so 21 colours will become many more.A great buy and I would highly recommend them if like me you enjoy using other mediums in your work.

The pictures are deceiving. Should have paid better attention to the reviews. Gorgeous colours but won't go very far. There is only a coating of medium in the pans. Would have preferred to pay a little more for filled pans.

Very good colours but more of a 'sheen' than metallic in some respects. For example, to use the light colours I need to have a light shining on the artwork so that I can see the application but they are good and bring the artwork to life under light. Good amount of colours for the price and do compliment my other metallic paints so am peased I bought them.

I’m so impressed with these paints, the colours are bright and vibrant with just about the right amount of mica powder to make your art shine

Good range of colours, good pigment, easy to use, leaves a nice shimmer when dry, blends well.Only down side is the pans are only half filled so it won't take long to get through these. I use them to highlight my paintings so it's not a big problem for me.I would definitely buy again. Much better than others I have used.
