Gorilla 200’ Aluminum Zero-Rust Upright Hose Reel

Very slow delivery. But once it arrived, very easy to assemble. Do make sure, though, that you follow the directions carefully -- especially making sure to take notice of the embossed little gorilla marking 'up' and the embossed word 'down.' As others have noted, if you get this wrong you could have all kinds of difficulty in assembling it correctly. Also make sure you have some pipe tape on hand. The excellent brass fittings will need the tape if your hose and/or faucet are aluminum or anything other than brass. You won't have difficulty making the connection but down the road you will have difficulty undoing the connections as, without the pipe tape, the brass and the other material will fuse together. I am very pleased with both the initial quality and the functionality. Cannot comment yet on longevity but I have the feeling I won't be disappointed.

Very sturdy, well built hose reel! I got tired of leaky hose reels made of plastic and decided to spend a bit more and get one that was going to last and not leak all over. This hose reel is great. The hose attachments are solid and do not leak. It's a cadillac, and I highly recommend! The 7 year warranty also played a role in the decision to purchase this hose reel instead of another one I was considering that only had a one year warranty.

Assembly was very easy and the areas where the fastener nut goes is recessed so the alignment is very easy with the bolts provided. Important to me was that everything can be disassembled if needed. Even the captive tubes for the wheels. Extra hose gaskets provided and tail piece hose for connecting the water supply is really heavy duty. All brass fittings . I don't see needing another hose reel. Very sturdyI read other reviews regarding the hand crank bolt was defective and they used something else. The hand crank bold it LEFT HAND THREAD....

The product is not beautiful, but it is clearly very, very durable and well built. The materials are very high quality. If you want a high quality, rust free hose reel with a smooth action and a leak free connector, buy this. I've purchase three of them. This is the best quality hand reel I've found.

Overall this hose reel is of good quality however there are a few things keeping it from being even better.I find that the handle is too short which causes me to bend over excessively when I push down on the handle to lift the front pads to move the reel. In order to move the cart you have to push down on the handle until the weight of the hose is above the wheels and this requires the handle to be parallel the the ground or about 12 inches from the floor.The female connectors on the supply hose has a strain relief/ grip aid (black plastic) which is not designed for the screw on part of the connector so it can not be used to help screw the hose onto the hose bib. It looks like the strain relief/ grip aid (black plastic) was made for another type of connector.This manufacturer also warns not to use aluminum hose connectors when connecting to this hose reel. I am seeing a lot of new hoses coming with aluminum connectors now days so make sure you get a compatible hose for this reel or buy an adapter.

Everything was great. The parts are quality, the nuts and bolts fit into recessed formed enclosers, you don't need any other tools than what they provide, the wheels are a soft plastic, really nice, solid built, the fittings are brass, no cheep plastic, I would buy again, but won't have to. The only down is where it was made. I don't like supporting a group like that. Bring the business back.

I was looking for a hose reel system that did not have air filled wheels. Air filled wheels die over time outside in the sun. This product looked great with some good reviews. It was easy enough to set up. 2 tips for setting it up. 1st remove the hose guide bar. It is just a place holder for shipping. It is not in the right holes. That had me stumped for a while. 2nd the handle bolt and nut are reversed threaded. So keep that in mind. I have not used it yet to the still bad weather in my area. Hope when I go to use it there are no leaks. I do like the bottom "shelf" to hold the hose nozzle. My last one just sat in the mulch. I do agree the handle could be a little longer.

The media could not be loaded. I was so excited to put this together. It’s not bad, but honestly, if you are expecting “gorilla tough” you might be a bit disappointed. I live in northern Michigan on a mini farm so filling water tanks in the winter and being able to bring the hose back inside so it doesn’t freeze is my main reason for purchase. Let’s start with the first flaw, easily forgivable, but still, why? Anyone who has heavy duty hoses knows how much the plastic grips for easy attachment on and off the spicket come in handy. Well the super duty hose it comes with for attaching to the spicket to your house has one of those grips… except, it doesn’t line up. Check pictures for what I mean. Ones an octagon and ones a hexagon. So it’s a useless grip. The more unforgivable design flaw, is the brass attachment for your main hose. It’s at a sharp angle and a fixed angle. This bad boy big duty reel, is only made for light duty hoses. I had to really force my hose onto the male coupling, and still I haven’t leak proof tested it. If you have a heavy duty hose with a grip, it likely won’t fit. Since I spent over $75 on the hose and already used it, I can’t return it, and I’m not too interested in buying another. Then, in order for the hose to start spooling there is a clamp you are supposed to put over the hose, but it’s so close to the coupling the only way to fit it is to bend your hose into an almost 90° angle, putting a kink in it so no water can come out. Kind of a big bummer at an almost $200 price point since I went with the upgraded one made for 200’.
