Based on Bernard Cornwell's "The Saxon Stories" series of historical novels, this British series is set in 9th-century England. In a time when the Danes rule most of the region, Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon)-a Saxon orphan raised by the Vikings-finds his loyalties tested as Danish forces set their sights on Wessex, the only English kingdom to remain unconquered. David Dawson, Tobias Santelmann, Emily Cox, Ian Hart also star.

The Last Kingdom: Season One
This series is my favorite series of all time. The Last Kingdom is one of the most captivating storytelling I have ever watched in my entire life. The acting, the script, the location, the filming, the costumes and the attention to detail is overwhelming and breathtaking. Action, drama, suspense, betrayal, fighting, and more! The product was delivered in time and in great condition. I highly recommend it!

The best show of all time! I LOVE this show! Uplifting!
Uplifting! Incredible writing! Gorgeously shot! Fantastic action! Nail-biting suspense! This show is like Game of Thrones except instead of leaving the show feeling ugly due to all the depraved acts of the characters in that show, you leave this show feeling uplifted. It makes you feel envigorated by shining the spotlight on all the traits of character we value the most (primarily I speak of the lead character Uhtred, but also Brida, Ragnar, and Alfred too; have many honorable traits to aspire to) and yearn for the most. Courage, loyalty, steadfastness, strength despite the odds, and trustworthiness. But it’s also the most riveting show ever. Production value in all areas is a 10 out of 10—cinematography, acting, story, dress, staging, action, special effects, on and on....superbly produced!!!!Outside of the violence that is necessary for this show and it’s time period there is very little nudity; and what is there isn’t pornographic but almost ‘accidental’...the camera doesn’t zoom in and pause on breast shots; and if you see any nudity it’s very brief (like they weren’t trying to show you nudity on purpose almost). There is no homosexuality on display in this show—seems like shows (or the corporate money behind them) think they have to have some guy-on-guy or girl-on-girl action just because of the times we are in, but this show doesn’t contrive to do that. There is no foul language...no F-Word, no A-Word, etc. The ‘swear’ word in this show is ’arseling’ which simply means ‘backwards’.I love that they didn’t throw these things in. The show is more enjoyable because of it.PLEASE WATCH THIS SHOW!!! (I’ve watched all 3 seasons 4 or 5 times—it’s that good!) It gives me an emotional lift every time I watch a few episodes.SEASON 4 should be out soon!! (Sometime early 2020 I would guess, as it is in post-production now).

Protagonist is a beta
Don't waste your money on this series. To sum it up, protagonist is an unambitious, uninteresting whiner who is mad because king and others are prejudiced towards him, but keeps working for them anyway, helping to make them successful and never getting ANYTHING for it. First, he serves a king, that king promises something while spitting on him all the way, said king reneges after getting what he wants, Uhtred still works for him for rest of story. 2. 2nd guy wants to be king. Uhtred like always, doesn't want to be. Uhtred makes him a king, guy swiftly sells him to slavery. Uhtred seeks no revenge. 3. Lazy corrupt brother wants to be king. Uhtred makes him king. Brother takes his girl. Never ending lack of lead role, stuck in the role of supporter. Not interesting. He does nothing grand like a protagonist should. Could have been a king 10 x over but just seems happy to get himself used by inept, incapable fools. Even though he had so many who followed him. Didn't even retake his lands in the end, which was the whole point of the show. The viewer complaints about his "shallow" romances, while valid, were the ONLY thing interesting until those idiots complained, then the writers stopped bothering with their "protagonist", and shifted screen time to make everyone else the star of the show. Uhtred is never even seen in later episodes in the series. Like he doesn't even exist anymore. They focus on everyone else's bs drama. This must be one of the most pathetic main character's I've ever seen and the worst tv show I've ever watched. It's actually painful to watch the nonsensical attitude of Uhtred's passiveness towards himself while others less deserving shine.
