Simple installation. No programming.
I set this IR extender up at my mother's house. She has an enclosed cabinet under her television with the stereo, blu-ray player, and cable box. She used to have to open the cabinet doors and leave them open whenever she wanted to watch something. This IR extender was very easy to install and made it so she could keep the doors closed. Installation took me maybe 2 minutes total. I just had to plug the jacks of the transmitter and receiver into the HDMI adapters. They go on the existing HDMI cable on each end between the tv and stereo. Put the little receiver eye where it will pick up the remote control. I stuck it to the edge of the tv. The other one went in the cabinet where it sends the signal to all the components. There is no programming to do. It just works. It took a couple tries to get the transmitter in a good spot to be seen by all 3 components. Once I got it though, everything works perfect. Had it installed over a month with no issues. Very satisfied.

Cable box to TV

Great solution for sending signal from another room
I bought two of these to send signals to a cable box in another room. I have a tv on back porch (30 ft HDMI cable) and a tv in bedroom (50ft. HMDI cable) and these send the signal to the cable box perfectly. The receiving end does seem to have about a 12-15 ft signal range limit. I put fresh batteries in my remote but the range stayed the same. Works great and saved me from paying for additional cable boxes. Also great to watch and control DVR recordings from the remote TVs.

Exactly what I needed
When I ran my cables through the wall to my TV when remodeling, I didn't think to add a remote extender line to control the audio equipment which sits in the basement. Being able to use the HDMI cable to send the remote signals solved that issue easily. The remote receiver on this isn't the most sensitive, so I agree with others that you need to point the remote directly at the receiver, but this isn't really an issue for me.

Works but is Unforgiving
Although I have decided to keep the product, I may look for a similar device at a later time. You have to point the remote directly at the receiver. It is not too forgiving. In addition, I have a universal controller that sequences through multiple devices for startup and shutdown. I have to go through the troubleshooting steps of my Logitech remote control multiple times before it turns on all of the devices. I am not taking off stars for that portion because of the complexity of my setup may be causing that issue.

Awesome extender
This product works great. I have my receiver in the basement for my in ceiling speakers In my living room and I'm able to control the volume and my television from my living room. This allows me to gave all my entertainment devices such as fire stick, DVD player, receiver in the basement out of sight to controller my TV upstairs.

Works exactly as described!
We recently had TV’s professionally mounted with the cable boxes strapped to the back. That worked well in all rooms but me, so we bought this! Easy install, great directions and our problem was solved! We are very happy with our purchase!

Cheap Plastic/no durability
This may or may not work! However, before I could even test it the thing fell apart. The plastic casing (covering the circuit boards) on the part that plugs into the HDMI cable on either end is unsecured. Just tiny little notches that pop. As soon as the cable is inserted, the springiness/movement of the cable in a tight space just popped the casing - on both ends. On top of that, the actual HDMI connector is so fragile that if you wiggle it as you insert it into the HDMI slot (TV or cable box) it just deforms and/or breaks. This is constructed of incredibly cheap components.NOTE: Adding insult to injury, if you have to install this in a confined space (like a TV that is mounted close to the wall, or a cable box in a confined space) it is impossible because of the way the HDMI cable inserts into the device. The design could be improved if there was a "tail" of about 2-3 inches that allowed attachment to the HDMI cable so that the cable is NOT pressed against a wall/tv. The mfg scrimped on these items when they copied the Sewell InjectrIR which does not have any of these problems - of course at twice the price.Bottom line: unless the TV and HDMI cable are out in the open and not in any way compressed these can work. In any other situation buyer beware. Fortunately for me Amazon's return policy insured that this purchase was refunded.
