40 Interesting recipes ranging from classic, contemporary, experimental, and seasonal. Excellent photograhy
I am new to the Gin Tonics and I am currently living in Spain. I bought this book to be my guide into Gin Tonic world. I know a little bit more about Gin and Tonics but this book is mostly a book of recipes with recommended gins that I generally cannot find in Spain. I was surprised to find that two Spanish Gins were nowhere to be found in the recipes- Gin Mare and Nordes.Pros: Creative recipes, Variety of Gins and tonics suggested, suggestions of other Gins that can be used in more than half the recipes, photography is beautiful, sections organized into classical, contemporary, experimental and seasonal types of Gin recipes. I liked the small size, it fit in my purse when I was shopping.Cons: I could only find about 10 of the Gin brands available in Spain and I had to special order most of them after going to a few liquors stores and finding none of them available. I got the impression that the various Gin makers were sponsoring the author. Also it would have been great to have an index by gin name because while I was shopping I had to flip though each page to find the recipe rather than having an index to easily reference the brand and recipe page.Out of the 40 recipes only 25 have options listed for comparable gin suggestions. I was left wondering what to do with the remaining 15 especially since I cannot find many of the gins in my area. I decided to look at this as an opportunity and when I am in the UK I will seek out a couple of these gins to take back with me.Recipes I triedSpanish Strawberry (listed in the experimental section)- A Strawberry Gin and Lemon Fanta mix. It tasted like a child’s drink- sweet with artificial fruit flavors. It would probably appeal to people who normally don’t care for alcoholic beverages however it did not appeal to me. I could imagine this being served at a picnic and people being surprised that they feel a little tipsy and then asking, “What was in that punch?”Sublime Gin Tonica (listed in the contemporary section)- A mix of Bombay Sapphire, tonic, pink grapefruit and vanilla bean. This drink gets even better when the vanilla is allowed to sit longer in the glass. I would make this again and a again although it would get pricey using vanilla bean often but I bought my vanilla beans in bulk and have plenty to spare. The author suggests that this can be made without the gin and I think he is absolutely correct. The flavors profiles are excellent.OBI (listed in the contemporary section)- Using a mix of yuzu gin and yuzu tonic water, this recipe has a lovely citrus, floral and delicately sweet flavor blending well together. This is another Drink I would make again although I would not want to go out of my way to find the Yuzu Ocha Tonic Water. The sample 4-pack I found for this tonic only had one Yuzu tonic and the rest of varying flavors.Earl Grey- too bitter and mouth-drying. Not balanced enough for me. I felt like I need something creamy to balance out the tea and bitterness maybe it’s because I need tea with milk. I am guessing that someone who loves Earl Grey tea without milk might really enjoy this cocktail.Gimlet Gin Tonica (listed in the classic section)- The gin suggested was nearly impossible to find in Spain but I was luckily enough to order a small sample size as the bottle was not available. The recipe was by far my favorite. I love it however I have to admit I m a fan of gimlets. The book was worth buying for this recipe alone!Chocolate Gin Tonica (listed in the seasonal section)- I didn’t notice a chocolate flavor in this gin tonic other than the chocolate scraping on the side but was not bad. I doubt I would try this one again but it inspired me to come up with my own recipe for a chocolate gin tonic

Don't be misled by the subtitle; there are no recipes here.
I was so looking forward to some real recipes for tonic water! There are no recipes for making tonic as they do in Spain. The entire book is variations of "buy tonic water; add gin and ice. garnish." For that, we don't need a book. Very disappointing.

First off the colorful photos are amazing and great to look at on their own. There are recipes for many occasions, Fall, Winter, New Year, Halloween. Can't wait to try them.

bello
Veramente fatto bene, ci sono delle idee belle. L'unica cosa essendo in inglese tocca usare certe volte il traduttore, ma a parte questo bello
