Excellent SeaWolf Edition
An excellent edition of The War of the Worlds by SeaWolf Press, which I recommend highly. The paperback is very well printed on good cream-colored paper, and durably bound – easy to hold and read. I have ordered several of their books now as gifts for the step-grandchildren, ages 3 to 10, and I love that SeaWolf reprints the original text just as it was, along with original illustrations. All very old-fashioned, of course – but I strongly believe that children ought to understand that the world did not spring into being on the day they were born! As and when they are able to read the text, they will get a good mental workout – the brain, like the body, improves with exercise. And these old books are free of the vulgarity and propaganda – of the right AND the left – that pass for “literature” today.I never see the families except for a few hours once a year when everybody travels to our house for Christmas dinner and gift-giving. There is no chance of having a chat with the excited kids, and they of course never think to give me any feedback on the previous books I’ve given – nor do their parents. But I keep sending these books and more modern ones, good stories that inform and delight – trusting that if and when the kids read them, they will get a benefit, though it may be just a little thought in the back of the mind, a lamplight on the road of life that will be helpful sometime or other. Who knows – but it’s the best this retired teacher can do for them.

Fans of the two films? You'll enjoy this read!
I love the 1953 film made from this book. I also enjoy the 2005 Spielberg take on this film as well. However, I'd never actually read the book before now. If you want to get a copy of the book, I strongly recommend this version by Sea Wolf Press. Sea Wolf has used the font style used 100 years ago as well as the original format and early illustrations from the original edition to enhance the enjoyment of this book. You cannot find a better edition of 'War of the Worlds' than this one! As a fan of the films, well, I knew how it would play out. And yet, there are surprises herein! The two films have both incorporated some things from the novel, but the book (which the Spielberg film feels closer to than the first film), has an additional ending beyond the film endings. And it has an epilogue as well which will delight readers and fans of the two films.

Cover can be better made but overall good quality and crisp printing. lots of drawings (grayscale)
This review is for the hardcover version. The book ( and actually the entire set of seawolf publishing hardcovers ) are of high quality printing. The binding could be better made but overall it looks very original.I really liked the illustrations although they are simple - however original.Recommend this book to anyone who actually wants to read the story.

Sticky residue
Purchased this for a gift. The book itself is fine, but unfortunately the front and back is covered in a sticky residue.

Just as anticipated
I love the book just a bit frustrated it took nearly a month to get it. However it was worth the wait.
