Mercer Culinary Knife Sharpening Angle Guide

Nice for sharpening at the proper angle.

Purchased to help me develop the appropriate angle for sharpening knives free hand for which it did. The only issue I have with it is that the ceramic rods split in the middle causing the guide to drop of momentarily when taking the knife across the stone. Also this will mark your knife where the bottom of the clam shell clip rests on the knife. Interestingly enough this did not happen on the cheaper knives I was practicing with. The price point was much less than other similar guides and a decent value...

Doesn't work well on small blades (not tight enough and slips down the spine)---but if you follow the online hints to line up the curve of the blade with the line of ceramic, pre-soak your two grit stones, and then follow the directions, people will actually remark on how sharp your 20 degree angle sharpened knives are. Very satisfying to develop this skill.

Does the job. Haven't had any of the issues mentioned in the negative reviews with gouging my stone. Great product, very satisfied.

This turned out to be not that useful with the longer chefs knives and the butcher knives. With practice keeping the correct angle is not that hard freehand so the guide just stays in a drawer.

Does a beautiful job sharpening my microgreen knives

I must admit i didn't notice that the wrong guid had been sent till i tried to use the guide and noticed the big gap in the centre of the 2 ribbing strips where the picture of the one i ordered has 3 rubbing strips which would make the use of the guide much smoother the one they have sent slips to a different angle when the big gap hits the edge of the sharpening stone, You can see by the picture it is not what was ordered

El producto no es como el de la foto, pero sirve como esperaba. El diseño hace que sea difícil en algunos momentos porque tiene un hueco entre las barras blancas que son dos en lugar de tres.

El producto no es exactamente el de la foto, el que te envían solo tiene dos partes blancas (En la foto aparecen 3), esto influye al momento de utilizar una piedra pequeña, la parte media de la guía queda fuera de la piedra y no proporciona soporte para el afilado, en fin quizás son cosas muy quisquillozas pero que al final no terminan de gustar, por lo demás cumple con su objetivo por eso le dejo 4 estrellas.
