Very sharp - may even cut bone
I purchased this set for my husband for Christmas, per his request. He loves to cook and let’s all be honest, is a much better cook than I am. The sharpening set is quite effective, works exceptionally well, and appears easy to use. The noise that is made while the knives are being sharpened is akin to nails on a chalkboard, but I digress. He was able to smooth previous scrapes and dents on the knives; they are very sleek and shiny. He was thrilled to demonstrate how the newly sharpened knives could even slice paper. Watch out vegetables!Tonight, he was slicing some poblano peppers and sliced part of his left finger. I was trying to explain to a friend how sharp the knives are and sent her a link to what I ordered. In terms of effectiveness, the knives are so sharp we were sent from the walk-in urgent care immediately to the ER for evaluation and an X-ray to make sure he didn’t cut the bone. I gave him this set for Christmas; I have contributed to this series of unfortunate events. Does that make me an accomplice? An enabler? A bad gift giver? Did I mention as I am writing this review that I’ve been in the parking garage in my car for almost four hours due to covid visitor restrictions? Not complaining that the hospital is keeping patients safe, but I may be inhaling too much carbon monoxide and be a little crazier than usual.Final points: The knives will be sharp. They may lacerate the nail bed. He has had an X-ray to make sure he didn’t cut the bone and is waiting for a consultation from a hand specialist. We are very fortunate it wasn’t more serious.Did I mention this sharpening set works really well and is effective?Best wishes and warm regards. Happy sharpening!

As advertised and more.
Among my many knives, my daily carry is a Kershaw Speedsafe folder, I'm on my second one now. Great pocket knife.I've worn the blade down to rounded dull, and have had difficulty in getting the blade back to paper cutting sharp, using the usual steel and ceramic, and stone.I found the Three Way Cut #1000/#6000 Stone on Amazon and ordered it. Before it even arrived, the company forwarded an instruction sheet with detailed information on using the stone to get the best results. Nice touch. When the box arrived, I was impressed with the quality of the set-up.The bamboo base is beautiful, the anti slip base holds firm, and the angle guide is easy to use, and holds the blade firmly.I soaked the stone as directed, followed the directions and started to get the blade back to paper cutting sharp.Because the blade was so worn, it needed a whole new edge run, from tip to hilt.30 strokes on the 1000 grit, followed by 30 strokes on the 6000 grit. Cool down the blade under cold running water and repeat. The results were a return to a sharper edge, but not quite there.20 strokes on the 1000 grit and another 20 on the 6000 grit, cooling the blade, and just a few finishing touches later, and the blade is back, sharper than factory issued.Really nice stone, well made, well done.Couldn't ask for more of a sharpening stone.Long blade, short blade, this stone works well.If you are looking for a sharpening stone, and there are many many out there, and if you are unsure about the choice, in my view, your not going wrong with Three Way Cut.Looks nice, works well, does what it says it'll do. What else are you looking for.I'll buy another one day.

Test your skills!
This is one of those items that you need to know what you are doing to some degree in order to get good results. I use this to sharpen my kitchen/chef knives. I also have a more rough stone (600 grit) from Daiso if the knife is very dull to start and then work my way up in grit number. Does not take a lot of skill but I would practice on knives that are not expensive first. I think the product itself is pretty good and gets the job done. I've been making sure to soak the stone for about 10 minutes prior to use and rinse often during use. I like that it labels which side is which grit, no need to remember. The holder works fine but the rubber bottom still slides on my counter top so I put a wet papertowel underneath and that makes it stay better. I do like the rubber protector that fits perfectly in the holder around the stone. I saw some reports of the wood holder getting moldy and the first time I used it realized it was very easy to rinse out and clean and then leave to dry- however I just used it today and saw that there was, in fact, a bit of mold from a trace of water that must have been left behind when I stored it in the drawer. This was not a huge deal as I just cleaned it before use again and will make sure it is dry again before storing it.I thought I would like and use the angle guide but to me it just felt cumbersome and still didn't really facilitate even honing of the blade/edge.
