OOTB Review By A DM Addict
Ordered as a replacement for worn-out black 1461s. The tweak here is the bex sole, which is about 1/2 inch thicker than the standard 1461 sole. Not so thick as to look like a platform sole, but adds to the chunky industrial look and adds a welcome minor boost in height for men who welcome it. Well-finished and with an otherwise classic 1461 look. Very happy!

Look Amazing, Oversized
I am a size 10 in practically every shoe, but not in these. They felt massive on my feet and my heel kept slipping out. I swapped out for size 9 and that made it better (now a bit tight, but apparently that’s what it’s supposed to be like when you first wear any pair of Doc Martens). The shoe once you get the right fit? Beautiful in my opinion.

Excellent quality and customer service!
Dr.Marten’s footwear quality is unmatched and has been a successful behemoth in the industry for decades. My first pair bought on Haight Ashbury St in San Francisco in 1988. I recently tried ordering 8-8.5 as advertised on Amazon but that size equates to a flat 8 from Dr.Marten’s, which was too small. I returned them and received the next size 9 in just two days. Quick service and no issues. I wish there were half sizes but there aren’t. So I recommend if you are a half size, order the next size up not down. Just wear two pairs of socks if slightly big. The shoe quality is simply fantastic!

These are awesome, but be warned, what you know about Doc Marten may not be accurate.
I bought these because they are the only shoe like it and I love them for it. But you gotta know that Doc Martens are not the same as they used to be when people say "I had those when I was younger, they are super comfortable!" They are not super comfortable, they don't last that long like they used to, and they don't mold to your feet like you think they would, like a Birkenstock. They don't have a shank either so no overtime arch support. In fact, be prepared to buy some good insoles because the stock shoe just feels like standing on a wood floor. I'd recommend you get some leather insoles with arch support so those can actually mold to your feet. I prefer Tacco brand. If you're investing this much in some cool shoes then might as well spend a tiny bit more to make them comfortable. If you want what people say they had, you'll need to get a pair of Solovairs. They are awesome and are actually quality. They used to be the company that manufactured Doc Marten's when they were all made in England until DM made some budget cuts and moved to Asia. Solovairs are everything OG Docs used to be and more. They have nearly all the same styles and other cool ones. These are an exception though as the BEX is a Doc exclusive. I liked the look of these more though so I went with them, but I knew what I was getting myself into and so should you!

Whats not to love
Ive been wearing docs for 30yrs, the only complaint Ive ever had is I wish they made half sizes. I used to have 26 pairs, but my size went up after giving birth. So, 15yrs later, Im older, and starting to get foot problems. Ive had bad plantar faschiatis for a month solid, non stop. Today I put these docs on, and for the 1st time in over 30 days I wasnt limping!. I prefer the bex sole, more cushion, and they just look cooler. Im tall, and have big feet for a girl, for reference..american womens size 12 is too small, 13 is too big. I wear 11 & 11.5 mens in Nikes..these 10UK fit perfect. 10UK is equivelent to mens 11, and Id really say a womans us 12.5.

The usual Docs fit and stiffness
I'm giving these five stars because they're great looking, they fit well, and I just really like them. But if you're prone to ankle blisters from the backs of stiff shoes, you're going to need to pad these. They shredded one of my ankles until I thought to put mole foam around the back of the opening. Hopefully, once they break in, they'll be flexible enough to not require that, but it's gonna be a while.
