Works as advertised...
I purchased this product to replace the 25+ y/o one in our walk-in freezer at work. The drain pan and pipe on bottom of condenser began to freeze, preventing drainage after defrost cycle, indicating the old heat wrap had expired. The old one had no thermostat, as this one does. Fooled me at first when I plugged in to test and it didn't get warm after 30 minutes. Wrapped the thermostat in a ice pack and it began to warm almost immediately. Duh. I wrapped the pipe and taped a couple of feet across the drain pan, in a long zig zag pattern. Covered the pipe with Armaflex pipe insulation and covered the bottom of pan with a standard foil type insulation. This freezer's temps range from -10 degrees to 20 degrees (during heavy use and/or defrost cycle). No ice build-up now...

Worked great, built in regulator.
This past winter our pipes froze for the first time in 20 years living in our house. We installed this in our crawl space and it thawed out our pipes in about 6-8 hrs. And we didn't have any issues with pipes breaking or leaking. I would make sure to have a faucet open of your thawing already frozen pipes.

Like the name says
This baby keeps the water flowing from my barn to camper while building my house. No issues so far. I went ahead and ran a PEX line from the barn and removed the "City connection"/hose swivel and crimped a swivel on the end of the PEX run once I got it into the camper (i.e. I did not need to splice into the camper plumbing!) I would call this a mild winter so far. It did get tested when it dropped down into the teens and the wind was blowing snow sideways for a day. We have had a couple consecutive nights in the twenties as well. I am sure Feb will test further, probably days/a week in the teens. I hope these are reliable! Much easier to use then the ones at big box stores that have all the stipulations about not double wrapping and placing the thermostat just right?!? Forget all that! Like the name says, just "wrap-on", cover with foam pipe insulation and secure with electrical tape. This is a little more of a task when dealing with 60ft, so be ready. It is a good two person job, but I did most of it myself.
