The German Wife: An absolutely gripping and heartbreaking WW2 histo
A**A
A very realistic account of a challenging life
I am always excited to start a new book by Debbie Rix and this one did not disappoint me.It was hard to read the scandalous details of what the doctors did, but Debbie makes the reader understand why the agonising decision and actions of Dr Hans Vogel were taken. Although Annelise made a good life for herself and her son, she was clearly deeply scarred and the reader knows that there can't be a "happily ever after" ending. It is a thoughtful reminds to us all of the brutalities that did not happens very long ago, but are not talked about as much as they should be.Another triumph for this author.
