It was the largest I could find, and the price was right.
The little pieces of metal that are used to secure the hasp and the thing that holds the hasp closed are cheap and flimsy. It works, and that's what's important.

Look great!
I bought these to dress up some black lacquer cabinet doors. I also bought brass corners. They look great. We made this built in to use space between two support beams that was just empty space. The black lacquer is to match our Asian style dining room set. These are just what was needed to dress them up. I had them on for about two months. So far no discoloring.

BOUGHT FOR ONE PROJECT- BUT USED FOR ANOTHER

Really solid, brass latch
This latch is really nice looking and I think it is a great value at 19 USD. The latch is made to use on a box where the hinge is on the top. My usage, however, is on a cabinet. The cabinet had a similar latch, however, I bought it second hand and the pin was missing and I never found another one that work. So, I got this to replace the entire latch. To do so, I used this sideways, so the hinge is on the side and the pin goes in from the top. I aged the brass before I installed the latch and it looks like it's been on the cabinet forever with lots of use. Overall, I am really happy with this latch.
