Impressive Radio, MP3 Player and Bluetooth Speaker
I'm very impressed with this radio, MP3 player and Bluetooth speaker. It's great for me when I'm in the garden. It's FM, AM and shortwave. I'm a bit of a shortwave fan, and whilst it's not a dedicated SW Radio like the XHDATA D-808 I was very impressed that I picked up Romania, China and New Zealand on shortwave. Bluetooth was really easy to setup with my android phone, and the microSD card slot provides a great way to listen to podcasts. The radio is nice and light, comes with a carry handle and torch. All presented in a nice box.Overall an excellent bargain with great functions and sound quality.

Good volume analogue mono FM, AM, SW +MP3 and Blutooth output. (4.5 stars).
The XHDATA D-901, does well as a kitchen radio and has a good volume level. I purchased it to play MP3 at a reasonable volume. The added torch function would make it a good radio to take away on holiday, for example.Light and stable at the same time, it is powered by a supplied re-chargeable 2000mah size 18650 3.7v lithium ion battery, or via 5v USB C input, or by 2x 1.5v 'D' cells.Key features:Analogue controls.Large speaker size, approx. 8cm diameter/good volume level.Long battery life.360 degree range aerial, c.75cmFlexible plastic strap carry handle.FM from 64 to 108 MHzAM 520 to 1730 kHz9x SW bands from 4.75 to 22.00 MHzBluetooth output to paired devices.MP3 playback from an external plugged in USB stick/TF card.3.5mm auxilary socket3.5mm headphone socket with mono playbackVery bright 6x LED light on left hand side of radio with built-in switch.5v USB C charging, with red light which dims once fully charged.Operation and performance.A red light illuminates when radio is on, though not a tuning light. Radio ran happily for 9hrs on AM (MW) using the supplied battery and still showed no sign of exhaustion.FM station discrimination is good and the set comes with FM1 (87- 108 MHz) and FM2 (64- 108 MHz).AM was a joy to tune though with the power lead plugged in, there is some predictable electrical interference. There are better ways to listen to SW than this unit, so less useful than other functions, when used in UK.When selecting MP3 or Bluetooth playback, a voice announces 'play by....' USB drive, AUX mode, or Bluetooth mode.MP3 tracks are played consecutively and the track number briefly shows before the track time progress displays using red LED display. You can play, skip tracks in either direction and fast forward through them to find a favourite part, whilst hearing the speeded up audio. The device remembers the last track played, but will return to track start if switched off and back on again later (unlike other similar, smaller and less expensive devices)....The way around this, is to pause playback and wait for the unit to power off (about 5 mins).Un-pausing/playing will wake up the unit at the precise place where it is paused. Very useful if on a long recording, though probably not what the manufacturer intended. I noticed that on one occasion when using this workaround, a few days later, the unit randomly switched itself back on and continued playback. Spooky. The instructions say that using the torch, the D cells won't power it due to voltage differences, but I've not tried this yet.The unit comes with both a double ended lead for auxiliary connection, plus a USB 2 to USB C charging lead.Overall I give it 4.5 stars, because it lacks stereo over ear, would benefit from a more user friendly memory for returning to part listened tracks after power-off and because I would have liked it to play MP2 audio too.

Tuning is difficult
Once you have tuned in - ok it works fine, the sound is very good, very practical radio when all utility power is lost. . But the sensitivity varies. One day I tune in and the next day I'm having trouble. It seems to have a mind of its own. answer - be patient. I will not get another one. analog tuning not for me and as for the so called short wave channels - forget it.
