By the 3rd fill l got traction. When the bottle is paid for (amortized over fills) a 30oz fill (max) will cost a buck. It’s up to 1.50 at the stores for house brand and no throw away bottles. There are the CO2 cartridges but they be teenie. Win win win

Took it out of the box and put it together and the handle stays pushed down.

If you run the numbers this is way more cost effective than sodastream or other machines that make you buy their expensive, proprietary CO2 cans. Also great that it's stainless steel instead of plastic.The downside is you gotta learn how to treat it right. If you fill too much water it could leak and sputter when you carbonate it. It comes with a little removable depth gauge for proper fill level, I don't like it so I just eyeball the level when I fill up.You also gotta tighten up the cap (nozzle, lever, cartridge holder all-in-one) all the way or it will also leak.Finally there's a rubber straw that goes down the bottle, this straw is connected to a seal that goes in between the cap and the bottle. If the seal isn't seated correctly when you carbonate, the CO2 will leak out somewhere, waste your charge, and possibly splash water everywhere.I make my own energy drinks with caffeine powder, lime juice, some more flavorings, sometimes Guarana powder too. I always liked the carbonation and sweet taste of retail energy drinks like Monster. Altho another downside is this item doesn't produce the same degree of carbonization. It doesn't "bite" as hard. But I would still buy this again just because in the long run it's way cheaper than retail energy drinks and sodastream-type machines.
