Keeps the deck clear of trip hazard
We are very pleased with it thus far. Retracts smoothly and completely as long as you keep it straight as it retracts. If you allow it to twist as you use it, it will not retract completely. No leaks and time will tell about its durability.

Solves the problem of the hose laying all over the place.
I've had garden hose reels with the crank and they always break or get tangled. You can see the old one in the background of the picture. Leaving the hose on the ground just looks bad. Enter this retractable hose reel! It works and it works well. I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough flow with the thinner water line but it actually makes things better than the 5/8" neverkink garden hoses from Lowes which are always kinking. The hose doesn't kink, it isn't a struggle dealing with it, easily stops pulling back and with a light tug will retract into the unit.I really like it. Attaching it to a brick house is hard just so you know that ahead of time. It takes a long time with a hammer drill to cut the holes for the lag bolts. Going into the mortar isn't bad, going into the brick takes a long time. I used concrete wedge anchors instead of the enclosed bolts.I bought a second one for the other side of the house. I don't know how long the retraction mechanism will last but I do like it.

Still works great, ordered another one.
I assumed that I would lose pressure because the hose diameter is smaller than normal, but the pressure has been great, even with my own attachments. Maybe pressure is good because I no longer have micro-kinks in the hose. It's a great reel, but I had to learn how to anticipate the length to unwind and how to make it catch when I wanted the tension to stop.Additionally, the Ayleid seller went above and beyond to help me get additional brackets so I can move the retractable unit easily from place to place.I also asked a competitive brand "G...", for a similar request, and it was simply denied. Ayleid is the best option in my book.p.s. The included nozzles still work great for me, no longer using my old sprayers. The firehose sprayer is like a power washer, so I use it for heavy cleaning only. It won't close under pressure, so I simply added an inline shutoff valve.p.s.This unit looks nice mounted to the brick, and especially because it is not huge. If the hose were larger diameter, then the unit would need to be much larger and would look funny IMHO. I did not want something like a mini-fridge bolted onto the house. This unit was the best balance of size to function.p.s.The warranty is impressive at 2 yrs, but I still added the 3 yr add on warranty for few more bucks.

easy to un-roll and retract
While this is easy to unwind and retract, you must take care when rewinding as it is easy to be pulled by the hose or have the hose retract too fast. But I enjoy not having to manually roll a 50+ foot heave hose any longer
