It does fool the woodpeckers and keep them away
It works -- which is good. The string support is too flimsy. I use kite string and it works great. I also attach one end of the string to the end of about 5 inches of of PVC tubing. I put a screw into the wall at an angle and put the other end of the PVC tubing over the screw. This keeps the owl away from the house so it can freely move with the wind.

it works on birds pecking on the windows, but is not very durable--still a good thing
it works on birds pecking at our windows. However the thin plastic film wears off the owls and they lose their florescence. Not cheap in that they will last about 4 months. And maybe the silvery, but non frourescebt beaten up owls will still keep the birds off--too early to tell about hat. But still itis a reasonable price to pay for getting rid of the birds.

These worked for a while....until they didn't!
These reflective owls worked for a few months during the summertime when they reflected well since we had plenty of sun on most days, but then around autumn they were absolutely not effective anymore especially with living in PA, once summer is over most of our sunny days are as well. The reflective coating was peeling & faded by then and one of the owls had lost an eye shortly after we put the 4 of them up. The wind also has a tendency to blow them off our deck sometimes too, so we have to keep putting them back up. But unfortunately these stopped being effective after about 4 months & once again all of the woodpeckers & other various birds started congregating back out onto our deck & roof once again as these didn't seem to intimidate them at all anymore. Now with spring here & summer coming again in just a few months, I don't know whether or not to buy some more of these & give them a try again or if there is something more effective & longer lasting that I can find to use instead..... especially since those darn woodpeckers are a real bother for us!

Not durable, cheap and it damage my patio ceiling
"After just two weeks of use, with occasional light to moderate winds, the products were damaged and/or broken. One of them, installed under the patio, even damaged the ceiling finish, requiring costly repairs (tape , texture and paint). This happened after the owl broke off to about half of the original size. Disappointing quality overall. I advise avoiding this product."
