Easy peasy, smooth and easy!
I am loving these pencils for working in my coloring books. The colors apply smoothly and blend extremely easily using the silicon color shapers I also purchased to use with these. The soft shapers seem to work best with toothier paper, and the firm shapers better with smoother paper. To me, this is counter intuitive but that is what I have found. I am using a Tombow colorless blender to "set" the colors and that works well--I found that using water, even with just a damp brush, made the thinner papers in my coloring books buckle somewhat.I have not tried any other brand of pastel pencils so I can't compare them with anything. I chose Derwent because of their reputation for high quality products, and I also love and use their Inktense pencils.I am sorry that I only bought the set of 36 pastel pencils because now I will have to buy open stock if I want to complete the set--I wish Amazon offered open stock on ALL of their pencil sets, at a reasonable price!

Vibrant Colors and Easy-to-Blend Layers
I've been learning about pastel pencils and soft sticks and Derwent was the obvious choice, as I've been using their graphite pencils for years. Love the bright colors and blendability of these pencils. They're not too chalky, nor are they too dense. Very easy to work with, whether making fine, edgy marks, or broader coverage marks. "Green Heron Fishing" on 9x12 Canson Mi-Tientes pastel paper. Highly recommend the Derwent pastel pencils.

There's No Such Thing as....
...too many pastel pencils. The Derwent pencils have a beautiful range of colors, so that it's a shame that 16 of these are not lightfast enough for professional use, including most of the violet to pink range, and, curiously, the two ultramarine pencils. There is no good reason to continue using pigments that don't last, given the choices now available. The remaining pencils lay down a rich layer of color and will combine well with my Cretacolor set (all of them lightfast, but a little lacking in really dark shades of blue, violet and green.

Great Brand
Derwent is a brand that I can trust to have quality art materials. It is my go to brand for any drawing needs. I like their travel watercolor palettes , too.

Se parten demasiado las puntas
4 lapices quedaron casi acabados con tantos intentos de sacarle punta sin que se partieran

Decent pencils
Not well sharpened, sell them unsharpened so I can do it properly. Not well packaged so they broke in shipping. Save money and send them in a canvas roll, tin isn’t of use if they get broken anyway in shipping. They are decent pastel pencils, work and blend well. Water blending works. Only buy when on sale, they are not worth full price. Except for the poor sharpening of these I haven’t found a difference in the lower priced brand of pastels and these which was very disappointing. Worth trying. The mountain picture was blended with water, the calf drawing is finger blended.

Better then the others, with a bonus! BUT handle with care
UPDATE: still love the ease of use, color brilliance, and overall quality of these Derwent pastel pencils. BUT some of them seem to crumble and break pretty easily when I try to (carefully!) sharpen them. This seems to happen more with the Derwents than the Stabilos. Maybe shippers dropped the box? Don't know.Oh, these are really nice pastel pencils. I also have the full set of Stabilo pastel pencils, and these are better. Great coverage, better color selection (72!), blend nicely, and as an extra bonus (for me), the name of the color is printed on each pencil, not just a number....much easier to remember and find.

Colores vibrantes

Great pencils
Love colouring with these, great colour range in the tin, pleasure to work with, I'm only learning and have managed, I colour first then blend with a cotton bud. I use a separate electric sharpener just for pastel pencils or a knife to sharpen .

heerlijke potloden

Recht herzlichen Dank!Die Stifte sind hervorragend. Schön weich unddie Farben sind sehr ansprechend.
