Buy this instead of a bunch of toys for your kids. I think I enjoyed it as much as my granddaughter did.

My child loves this 'toy.' It is kind of hard for him to understand how to use the controls since he doesn't use one in school but he loves he can see different things up close. He loves learning more with this 'toy' and uses different things to see it through the microscope. There are two different settings for the light (dim or bright).Right now it is winter so we are hoping to use it more when spring comes around and look at outdoor nature with it. Other than that, great product!

Our assignment from the giving tree was to provide a gift for a child aged 8, with a big interest in science. The National Geographic name helped make the decision but the microscope seemed a perfect place to start this young one out. Packaging was well done and though we didn't take it all apart, looks to be a good quality and good for those young hands to work with. Happy with the purchase.

I gave it my grandson for his birthday. He was very excited. I also bought extra sides to go with it. It seems to be just right a beginner

Got this as a gift for my little scientist. Her excitement looking at common things was so fun. It also have with slides ready to view. We just had to watch she didn’t crank it down too far where it was touching the slide.

I want to send my nephew only toys that inspire science learning. He's in 1st grade and along with his Mom, they've been having a great time with this.

There was a day when a good microscope was solid, made of metal and had good tools for students to use in studying. This box came and it was almost so lightweight I wondered if there was anything in the box. The microscope is nice but not that great for a child to use it....well, expect it to break or be damaged. The plastic microscope is thin plastic and not really suitable for the ages printed. A lot of care needs to be taken to keep the whole kit safe and not broken...not every child can do this. Stronger plastic, better glass lenses, and more workable tools would have improved this kit.
