So many twists and turns
The Perfect Wife by Blake Pierce is the first of 21 books about Jessie Hunt, a young married woman who is studying to be a criminal profiler. The couple move to Orange County from downtown LA and join the local yacht club to get to know the local community and make new contacts for the husband’s business. Meanwhile, Jessie is also involved in a far darker side of life where she visits a hardcore criminal institution to interview a serial killer as part of her degree. However, things are not all as they seem at the yacht club and Jessie finds out far more than she bargained for. This is a brilliant story with so many twists and turns, none of which I saw coming. It is interesting to see both the personal and career sides of Jessie’s life, and although this is a standalone read, it sets up the whole series. The Perfect Wife is currently free on Kindle, as are the first books for several other psychological thriller and murder mystery collections by author Blake Pierce. Highly recommended.

Pretty good
A good story with lots of suspense. Well developed main characters. A shocking ending. A little bit unbelievable in the amount of things happening to one person, but hey, it is a novel. This is why I am not sure I need to read any more of the series even though there are some loose ends. Worth a read, especially since it was free.

Gripping read
A good read, many twists and turns, looking forward to reading the rest in the series. The characters were believable and bought to life well, the interactions between the main character and the inmate at the NRD I found very enjoyable and well written. The only downsides were the frequent typos along with the fact that I personally felt it all ended quite quickly but I'm hoping more will come to light in the following books. Echoes of Stepped Wives and Silence of the Lambs in parts, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment.

Ridiculous Romp
Something terrible happened to Jessie Hunt in her childhood, but by her late twenties she seemed to have everything as she was the wife of a loving, rich, and successful husband and they were happily awaiting the birth of their first child. They had moved from a cramped downtown apartment to a large up-market house near the sea, and they became swept up alongside welcoming neighbours in a type of country club where their social lives were set to blossom. In addition Jessie was finishing off a masters degree in forensic psychology and she was looking forward to working as a criminal profiler.Everything seemed perfect, yet the social side of Jessie’s life turned to being something akin to ‘Stepford Wives’ and her involvement with a jailed serial killer was akin to Hannibal Lecter in ‘Silence of the Lambs’. These sinister elements provide all and more than enough for prolific author Blake Pierce of crime thrillers and psychological mysteries.to weave a gripping and compelling tale. Indeed it may be the drama is just too implausible and the characters are not credible – but hey – it’s fiction. As a novel ‘The Perfect Wife’ starts quite slowly but soon builds up pace with much tension and suspense, and it reaches a shattering conclusion. Readers must suspend belief to accept Jessie’s childhood nightmares and her relationship with an evil sociopath, and to acquiescence to the sordid side of a hedonistic existence. It is a ridiculous romp – but exciting and entertaining.

Wooow!
Read this in two days. I couldn't put it down. Every chapter ended with a cliffhanger and the last sentence of the book has me falling back in my chair. So much suspense and so much going on while still keeping everything in line and order. This was a great read and definitely eager to continue the series. Highly recommend reading!

At least I got it for free
I couldn't get Myself to like this, it was like a torture reading this. The plot starts at 60% way in the book and is not even Exciting or anything. This was such a boring book and I am so glad I didn't actually buy it and instead got it free.

Eigentlich ganz spannend
