JET 7" x 12" Horizontal/Vertical Metal Bandsaw, 3/4 HP, 115/230V 1Ph (Model HVBS-712)

I spent some time deciding if I wanted this model or the Deluxe model for the extra $100. I even called Jet to discuss the differences and they did a poor job of explaining them all. The deluxe model has a different vise that makes fixturing pieces at different angles considerably easier. It has a different stock/workpiece stop. It has mounts for a feed table. The saw pictured in this image is actually the deluxe model. Those are the ONLY differences so you'll have to decide if the $100 is worth it for you.Okay - now onto an actual review. The saw is well made. It is incredibly heavy and arrived well packaged via freight to my home. The saw's coolant pump was not working upon arrival. I spent some time debugging the issue and found there was a loose neutral connection in the main switch box, which not only turns on the bandsaw motor but also provides power to the coolant pump via a separate selectable switch. I am an electrical engineer so I didn't lose too much time on this and I must say that the loose connection seemed to have occurred in shipping as the wire nuts all had electrical tape on them as an additional method of securing. I would normally knock off a star for this but I feel that the entire saw is extremely well built and losing 20% of my review's good intention would be a disservice.This saw cuts true out of the gate. It came with a test cut to demonstrate that it has gone through SOME form of quality control, which I do not believe you can say about some of the competitor's products. This is an expensive unit for the size but the construction is solid and well engineered. I will never buy another horizontal bandsaw in my lifetime. This is a serviceable product with a reputable name slapped on it.It ships well lubricated and there is plenty of protection from rust on all of the components that require it. The only negative is that it is a bear to move but that is no fault of the saw.

First off. My machine came damaged. The packing box was in perfect shape. The paint had been scraped off on one side.Now besides that. Let me explain why you don't want this.The coolant you have to run in these are expensive.When turning on the coolant you have to barley crack the valve, if not you'll lose all the coolant all over the floor. It'll just pour out everywhere.On the back side where the so called power cabels are, it gets hit with coolant 247, terrible design flaw. Let's run (water/coolant) over the power cables constally. Not a good idea.The handle for the vise came off the first day. Quality control was poor on this unit.Then when I reached out one day I honestly recieved poor feedback from jet.I asked for a few blades for the inconvenience of me having to fix half the stuff that wasn't even tighten in the machine and the damaged door. They did sent the paint and a new blade but for a 1700 dollar unit. This was pour.Never again will I buy a jet

This saw is fast and accurate. The fixed wheels on it make it extremely difficult to maneuver around the garage, so I'm making a dolly for it to make that part easier. Also, it did arrive with some damage from shipping. The bump stop bolt was completely folded over which caused the tab for the kill switch to fold up and the rubber housing around the switch was torn off.I reached out to JET on Friday and hope they can ship out some replacement parts quickly. In the meantime, I've created a bump stop and a new tab for the kill switch and happened to have extra rubber switch covers from a project.I went from a WEN that I used to cut miles more steel than it was intended for. When I cut 1/8" wall 1.5" square tubing on the WEN, it took about 10 minutes to cut through.It takes 30 - 45 seconds with this saw.

This bandsaw is absolutely the best bang for its buck in its price range. I've used it to cut hundreds of pieces from aluminum to stainless steel on one blade. The vertical option is pretty sketchy and needs concentration to not lop off any digits, but when you need it you need it. Would highly recommend for any machine shop.
