Q: Will one bag of resin work for a 5600 Fleck unit? What's best advice for emptying old unit and refilling new product since thre are no directions?

The 5600 is only the valve designation. The size of your resin tank determines how much resin to use. A 10” diameter tank with 54” height needs 1.5 cu.ft., for example. If you don’t use gravel in the bottom, you should be able to add the resin, add water, and push the riser tube down through the resin; putting the tube in first and covering the end of the tube is an option.

its made in China, and it does have some OSHA standards printed on the bag that it was manufactured under.

To save yourself some time, just call up your local water softener company and ask if they sell medium. It saved me some shipping, and supported a local company. It just happened that they had the Ionac C249, which I put in my Kenmore.
