Fragile pods
The coffee itself is nice enough. But the pods are too fragile, given the their eco credentials I expected to perhaps lose some product. But 10% of what I ordered came perforated. On that basis it's a subscription is a tough sell given the price point. Their customer service (info@kissthehippo) didn't even reply to my email, so engagement isn't great. Ill be trying another brand.

Nice flavour, eco credentials but comes at a cost
You get three boxes of 10 pods, so 30 pods in total. I think the USP of their pods is their green potential since they are organic ( certified by UK Soil Association), carbon-negative and compostable. It does however have a knock on effect to the pods as they are not aluminum but not plastic either but they are strong and seem well manufactured, I have yet to have a failure.I use a Lattissima Touch machine and have had no problems at all with the pods, all I have tried go into the holder, have a nice stream of coffee and then deposit into the bin perfectly, they work as they should. The coffee is 100% organic Arabica coffee and it says on the box that it is roasted in the UK but packaged in Italy. The coffee originated from Brazil (natural) and Guatemala (washed) with a 50/50 split.I was pleasantly surprised that the coffee had a rich taste with it not being in an aluminium pod, it does have a nice flow coming out of the pod and a nice dark colour with a decent crema in the cup. The taste is not the strongest but I do get the hints of dark chocolate and almond in there, I would not say it hits you and overwhelmes you but they are there in the taste. It is a very mellow coffee, it is not in your face but it is a nice smooth drink with a rich flavour and not watery at all.The packaging is great as well, simple and minimalistic but it fits the organic nature and the name is cool as well. There are cheaper options though, your paying for the eco credentials here, and you can recycle the aluminium pods which are cheaper, at £16.50 for 30 as of April 2022, they are around 55p per coffee which makes them even more expensive than many official Nespresso ones.I guess the question is after trying the coffee would I get more and the answer is yes, it tastes good. I probably would go for something stronger but that's personal preference, however I will keep drinking these and enjoying the coffee. If you are bothered about the waste that plastic coffee pods leave and you don't recycle the aluminium ones, this gives you an alternative to put on your compost heap with a nice tasting coffee inside to compliment the eco credentials.

Very good, but very expensive
At 57p/capsule these are very expensive, and moreso than Nespresso's own-brand capsules. As someone who offsets his carbon footprint by around 2.5x already, it's great to be able to switch to a coffee brand that already is carbon negative (by planting trees themselves) and fully compostable. The packaging and pods themselves are all compostable, which means I can just throw it all into our compost bin in the garden - excellent! The pods themselves are good quality, not flimsy and do work very much like a standard aluminium or plastic pod.The coffee is very good and completely unlike some of the other compostable pod brands that I've tried such as Grind. Grind's coffee is nowhere near as nice as this, although that is a lower priced product. The coffee, however, does not quite have the quality of flavour profile that I've found with the original Nespresso ones, or ones from Caffe Nero, but it is still very good.Based on the price, I am unsure if I will buy more. I do like that it is compostable and fully carbon negative, but the cost is quite high considering that it's not my favourite. As many of the coffees that I drink are lattes, I will likely use other compostable brands that are a lot cheaper, and may have these as the occassional espresso treat.I would recommend them, definitely, but I would very much like to see a lower price point per pod. If I could buy 100 pods at a 25%+ saving, that would probably be enough to swing me fully on to this brand.

Nice Full Bodied Coffee
These coffee pods fit my nespresso machine great. They are very different to branded pods as these are fully recylable and compostable which is great for the enviroment. Even the packaging is fully recyclable.Inside the pack you get 3 little boxes of pods, 30 pods in total. I had no problem with my coffee machine accepting these pods. The coffee pours dark and rich. I prefer a mug of coffee and found that 1 pod is just too weak for around 300ml of coffee. Two pods delivers the perfect strength for me.The coffee itself has a very nice flavour, with two pods it is quite a strong coffee taste but i enjoy my coffee like this. The capsules deliver a very nice crema which doesn't dissapear as soon as you put milk into the cup.The description states hints of chocolate and almond. I couldn't really taste these flavours but then i have never been able to identify the 'notes of' on any coffee i have ever purchased. Maybe that is just me!!This coffee works out to just under 57p per pod. So for a mug you would be looking at around £1.14 per cup. I think this is slightly omn the expensive side for a home brew, although compared to a coffee shop it is good value for money. You also have the benefit of these pods being fully compostable which for some will justify the small price difference to other pods available on the market.Do i recommend this coffee? Yes, i have very much enjoyed drinking this coffee. It's rich and full bodied.I hope that you found my review helpful.
