Buy this unless you're broke. LOL
My VW Tiguan can't use any other brake controller other than this and the Curt version. After doing my research I felt the only reason to choose the Curt was the cost difference. I've lived long enough to know that you get what you pay for.Very easy to install.

Easy to install once I figured out a wiring problem on my old 1995 Dodge truck
Seems to work as well as a regular brake controller. I'll be taking my first 1000 mile trip with it tomorrow. I pull a 10,000 lb flatbed trailer with a 1995 Dodge 2500 4x4 Pickup that has messed up wiring so I couldn't use a regular brake controller. I like the idea that I can sell the old truck and buy something else and not have to change wiring.

Great when it works. Wish it worked more!
The product itself is really slick, maybe I got a bad one.Mounted Friday, paired controller, all worked smooth. Tested around the block, adjusted, very happy.Left for 2100 mile move across country. It works maybe 15% of the time, and I simply had to disable it at one point because I felt it was safer to have no brakes that brakes that just randomly came off and on.Manually activating the brakes works sometimes, sometimes not.The Teknosha Edge app crashed every time I clicked “Connect my product” so we’ll never know if it would have worked better with the app.I *only* ordered it because of next day shipping. I found out the truck I needed to use for trip had no controller. It might have something to do with the fact that the 7-pin cable is the loosest I have ever seen, and wiggles all around in the socket.I ended up at an Oriellys in the middle of the desert in the heat planning to figure it out, and purchased a new 7 pin to swap on, but then decided rather than fixing a defective product I just installed a $70 controller with a $25 cable and it worked WAY better. I am sending this back as soon as I get home in the AM.Dangerous product. Someone with no towing experience could get hurt.

2nd Prodigy purchase, best option for trailer brakes
We bought one of these 8 years ago for our travel trailer. It’s never failed and super easy to use when towing with different vehicles and you don’t have to tear up your tow vehicle interior with expensive aftermarket wiring for the break control. We just bought a heavy duty dump trailer and we got the second prodigy for it.

Seems to work great
Bought used trailer from a dealer who kindly installed this for me. Worked fine during 4 hour trip home then again to move trailer to storage lot.

Absolutely Recommend This Controller
After much research, we decided to get this brake controller despite the fact it was double the price of the Curt. A couple reasons we bought this one over the other. 1) Curt was really easy to steal. The Prodigy is bolted to the trailer frame. 2) The Prodigy has redundancy incase or loss or failure. The in vehicle remote isn’t the only way you can control it. You can also use your cell phone via Bluetooth. Set up of the Prodigy took about 5 minutes. Pairing the handheld with the main unit, took about a minute. Learning the correct “gain” setting for our Toyota FJ Cruiser and Gulf Stream travel trailer only took a short drive to get it set right for us and it’s easy to adjust. We’d absolutely recommend spending extra for this unit and the peace of mind. Also, it’s easy to use several different vehicles with a trailer with this unit attached. Just pair it, set your gain, and go. Easy peasy. My only recommendation to the company, include a way to attach the hand held to your dash so it’s not flipping around and falling on the floor. I attached a command strip hook to the back of the hand held, then added another one to my dash to hook the hand held to.

Don't let the cable touch the road.
I like this product a good deal but take care to be sure the cable connecting to the tow vehicle does not make contact with the road. I had engineered bungee cords to handle the slack and one broke en route, causing the cable to drag and abrade the jacket and causing the running lights to fail. Replacement cable is only $30 but since it is hard wired into the controller you have to know someone capable of repairing it (dealer would not take the liability) or buy a whole new controller.A better solution would be the same 7-pin connector as on the trailer end so that if the cable gets worn it could be replaced easily.

Very Reliable
Bought this to replace the time delay controller on my pickup truck, had it for 3 years on my trailer and working very well, never lost RF signal
