Great purchase if you're looking to buy a laptop to last you several years.
The Alienware m15 R4 is an excellent choice for gaming on the go or in the event that you are unable to acquire the necessary parts for a tower pc at retail prices. This particular laptop comes with high end parts meant to last and provide superior gaming experiences. Overall a great choice for the price, considering this is for a laptop, so the convenience and portability in mind makes it a great reason to purchase if you're an avid gamer. I do recommend buying a cooling mat or external cooling pad because the laptop runs a bit hot due to its compact design. The battery life lasted me around 4-5 hours when I was watching Netflix in FHD and playing games like Destiny 2, Apex Legends, and CoD: Warzone.

Phenomenal Performance.
Honestly the best bang for buck premium system out there. You can spend an extra $1000 and get 15% more performance with an RTX 3070 or 3080 machine, but it's just not worth it. This is the machine that lets you play everything and medium/high mixed settings at 30-60+ FPS.

Perfect for gaming and use as an actual laptop.
I’ve had the laptop for a week now it’s better than expected. I’ve been able to run war zone on high settings with Ray tracing without any issues. The fans do a good job keeping CPU and GPU cool but I still underclocked and use the TCC feature for a little more in thermal protection. Off battery using the Optimus feature I’m getting 3-4 hours on the batter which is also a bonus. I’ve always wanted an Alienware laptop since I was a kid and this thing doesn’t disappoint. Who needs an Xbox.

Worst Service Ever
I wish I could give this a zero. I have reached out to Dell 4-5 times. I even had someone come and repair the computer but still not fixed. The Killer WiFi inside will not connect to internet and have downloaded latest driver upgrades and changed the WiFi card and still nothing. I have asked Dell to replace but no luck. I will never purchase another Dell product. de

Definitely a Dell
Alienware used to be above and beyond, high quality. These days it’s built cheap. Feels like a cheap Dell product.

Solid Midrange Gaming laptop at an affordable price.
The media could not be loaded. Alienware m15 R4 is engineered with: 10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10870H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency), 15.6-inch FHD (Full HD,1920 x 1080) 144Hz 7ms 300-nits 72% color gamut, 16GB 2933MHz DDR4 , 512 GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 6GB GDDR6, Lunar LightConstruction: Very Solid build, very thin and light weight considering what is being packed into this gaming laptop. First gland and closer inspection both indicate great engineering and design went into this laptop. The Alienware logo on the cover, inside power button, around the back and keyboard all support RBG lighting customization. This can be achieved with the Alienware control.Outside Ports1 MicroSD-Card Reader |3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A 1 with powershareHDMI 2.1b with HDCP 2.2 OutputMini DisplayPort™ 1.4 OutputThunderbolt™ 3 PortAlienware Graphics Amplifier PortPower/DC-In PortWedge-Shaped Lock Slot (cable and lock sold separately)Killer™ Networks E3100x Gigabit Ethernet NICAudio Out 1/8" Port (Compatible with inline mic headset)Further customization can be achieved through Alienware control which is really nice. This includes overclocking for better CPU performance, but it comes with some risks. So be careful.I also like that it tells me about its temperature and fan speed. For some reason the laptop runs pretty hot when you first starts. Internal temperature reached as high as 143 F. which is 63 Celsius. I measured the temperature with a laser and by the keyboard it reached 109 and on the back as high as 113. After an hour I did noticed the temperature cooled down to around 100 F by the keyboard. I would highly suggest using this on a cooling platform to help with regulation of temperature. You can see the temperatures on in the picture area.Gameplay. My son used this to play games Rainbow Six Siege, League of Legends and. He indicates it is smooth but indicated that with only 400 GB of available memory, it is not enough for online games and the rate they are updating these games. You need at least 1TB to barely keep up. RTX™ 3060 is good for his game play.Although the keyboard is nice and soft for me. My son did hook up his own keyboard and mouse to facilitate his play. The screen did provide good refresh rate 144hz. No noticeable lagging. Color and clarity is similar to our desktop monitors. Very nice.I did find out there is a Alienware Graphics Amplifier Port in which you can hook up an external desktop graphics card to further help with graphics demands. It is a good option for those with higher demands.I do observe some flicking when existing from screensaving mode. I think it is the system trying to determine screen brightness base on ambient light. I captured it on video. There is no adverse behavior after initial flickering. This is not a touch screen laptop.Benchmark for this laptop also supports my findings. It is mid grade gaming laptop for this production year. My son will be okay with this for the next couple of years. We just need to get bigger storage for the updates and games. I have captured the benchmarks from Novabench in the pictures. it is just slightly better than most midgrade gaming laptops. But fails significantly in comparison to the high end laptops. It took about 2 hours 15 minutes to charge the battery from 0. this is while the PC is on and in use. with a full battery, I was able to use the laptop for close to 5 hours.Bottom line. For the price it is a decent gaming mid grade laptop. It might be considered on the lower side of the midgrade spectrum. Could use a boost in hard drive storage. It will satisfy most of the gamers needs. I would recommend this for younger teens.
