Being a novice in the field of malware forensics, I purchased this book to serve as a reference guide to educate myself on how to identify malicious code within the realms of Linux based operating systems.In my search I found several resources on various websites and documents that would touch upon the process of malware forensics as piece of the puzzle, or as one off mention within the Linux environment. I was looking for an all in one reference guide to pinpoint on the subject matter, rather than sift through bounds of unrelated information to extract the same information. Along came Malware Forensics Field Guide for Linux Systems.The book lays out the information in a clear and concise manner though its easy to follow methodology. Of particular use are the supplemental components used to strengthen the methodology laid out by its authors. I found the “Pitfalls to avoid” and “Tool Box” components to be life-savers as much of my work has been through trial and error.Overall I highly recommend this book to all levels of professionals seeking to strengthen their understanding and approach to malware forensics.
