Updated as there was an error in key sequence:Having used the memory stick for a short period of time, I am updating my original review and increasing the number of stars I award it. I stand by what I originally said, setting the user code for the first time is an absolute nightmare, and that is with using the supplied instructions. But the memory stick is a great device.I will add some instructions here so you can see how to set the user code for the first time.Below I have given the button sequence on the device. The default PIN supplied is 11223344. The letter k below indicates you press the button with the key symbol. The text <enter_pin>, you substitute this for the multi digit PIN code you wish to use.Change User PIN Codek11223344 k <pause, wait until lights change, stick is unlocked> kk <enter_pin> kk <enter_pin> kkThe first k prepares the device to accept a PIN code. The memory stick powers up. The first kk tells the device to unlock. There will be a slight delay when this happens, around a second or two. So wait for the LEDs to change from red to green before progressing further.A tip: when you press kk, make it a rapid double press of the k button.Test the pin code you have entered. Either[1] Wait for the device to power off (this might take some time)[2] Plug in to a USB port, wait for the LEDs to stabilise (not flashing), then unplug it and it will turn off. This is quicker than [1].[3] Unlock the device - see instructions below[4] Verify the LEDs have turned from red to green. If this does not happen, an error has occurred whilst setting the PIN code.To unlock the device:k<enter_pin>kThere will be a short delay, wait until the illuminated LED changes from red to green, then plug the memory stick in to the USB port of your computer.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It allows me to keep all my passwords in a secure manner, as even if it is stolen, it cannot be brute forced, and has a very high level of security.How it works,- once a password is set, you are required to enter the passcode/password into the Stick before entering it into the computer,this is around 7 to 16 digits,- this allows you to plug it into the computer and use it as a normal USB Stick.Security,- until the password is entered, the stick is not usable, it will not respond to a USB port.- it cannot be brute forced, as after 10 failed password attempts, the stick will delete the onboard encryption key removing the only key to access the data.- the contents are encrypted with AES256, with simply means that if someone managed to copy the data off without entering the correct key,they would not be able to decrypt the data with a reasonable time (based on current computing this would take billions of years)So you can afford to drop it in the street with valuable data, and not have the faintest worry(unless you wrote the password on the back of the device!)

Brilliant flash drive.Setup up is very easy and does not require a computer. The ability to unlock the drive before putting it into the computer is great, and means that you are not fiddling around the back of the computer trying to unlock it. Removing the drive, or shutting down the computer, immediately locks the drive to prevent unauthorised access. There is a battery inside the drive to periodically charge the drive, but if you run out of battery, then you simply connect the drive to a computer and wait for a minute or two; or you can unlock whilst connected to the computer immediately.

I like this a lot but like others I found setting a code virtually impossible to begin with - and it was only a review from another purchaser that solved the problem for me. Once done, everything seemed so simple and the drive works very effectively and does indeed provide absolute security. Perhaps the instructions need rewriting? The small physical size is a real bonus and I haven't found a drive of comparable size and portability offering such a high level of security. I have been using this producer’s larger drives for some years and they have been very fine, with a high level of encryption and integrity of contents, although their casing does seem to experience some deterioration, for reasons that aren’t clear. All in all, the smaller version is expensive, but worth it for the peace of mind.

I've had this device for quite a few months now. Used it nearly everyday, and it's still in emaculate condition! Absolutely no wear on the pin pads and the device works just like it was brand new!I had a technical issue about 3 weeks ago, but it was sorted out by the wonderful support guys, turns out I didn't know how to format it properly.. but honestly this is a lifesaver, I've personally checked their Certifications and it matches with what they advertise. I even bought my Dad one of their new M2's, ready for father's day here in the UK!
