Works well but I'm still waking up during the night - see update
I bought Natrol 1mg Fast Dissolve Melatonin because I didn't like how groggy I would be the next day when taking an OTC sleep aid with the active ingredient of 25 mg Doxylamine succinate. Even taking 1/2 of that pill would leave me tired the next day. I had read that for some people as little as .3mg of Melatonin (less than half of one of these 1mg pills) works, so I first tried just taking 1/2 a pill. These pills are not scored (see photo). My first attempt at cutting one with a knife wasn't successful (part of the pill turned to powder) so, since I don't own a pill cutter, I tried just snapping one in half with my fingers and that worked pretty well. For me, half a pill did not work so I moved it up to a whole pill the next night. In the end I found that two pills (2 mg) makes me tired enough that I can easily fall asleep within about 45 minutes and I am not groggy the next day at all! However, I am still waking up in the middle of the night. I looked up all the Natrol versions and discovered they have a time release formula so my next step will be to try that. I plan on buying the 1mg dose so I can start as low as possible and will try pairing with the fast dissolve pills as well since I still have this bottle and you never know... With some time and experimentation I hope to find the right dosage for me.10/14/17 Update : The Natrol 1 mg time release version didn't work for me at all. I tried everything from 1mg to 5 mg and they didn't help me fall asleep or stay asleep. At 5 mg I was actually feeling groggy/off the next day so called it at that point. Then i found out that a lot of us are magnesium deficient, and that magnesium can help you fall asleep, so I started taking 250 mg magnesium oxide with the melatonin and I slept reallly well even on the first night. I hope you find a combination that works for you.

ASD Toddler & Fighting sleep!
My toddler daughter has autism and has always had issues falling asleep. She would toss and turn and wake up every hour so we finally talked to our doctor who recommended the 1mg melatonin tablets. We use them off and on ( depending on her routine ). I give it to her and she thinks it's candy, 30 minutes later she's calming down and finally relaxing. It's been actually so helpful!

Read if you have a hard time sleeping ALL the time!
I have suffered for over ten years from insomnia. Due to having an anxiety disorder and major depression and naturally being a night owl addicted to her screens I have HORRIBLE sleeping schedules. So bad that if I cant sleep by 4am I sometimes skip school because the lack of sleep makes me super irritated and shakey etc. (I have no sleeping disorder). So I hear about Melatonin and how it isnt habit forming at all and when I checked Amazon I was hyped that it came strawberry flavored! (Strawberry flavored anything is fabulous). I bought the 1MG to test how much I needed to get me to sleep. I did research and technically anything over 1MG is overdosing and you shouldnt do that but I have severe relaxing issues so I needed this. One thing I will say off the bat is that I thought at first this gave me nightmares the first few nights. But after weening off of it (just in case) I realized it was just lil old me. Now I started off taking it all at once if I took more pills not realizing you should slowly take them. Please slowly take them itll be better for you (an hour before you sleep then if needed when you are trying etc depends on person). My body reacted better when I would slowly take them every hour as opposed to all at once. It made me more groggy.Even though this helps me sleep at a determined time it did not help my quality. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to pee or for whatever random factors and this does not keep you knocked out. But even though I have a hard time falling asleep always, when I did wake up, I did not stay up. I can also tell if Ive hit my bodies limit with melatonin because I will wake up groggy. (Thats why you get 1MG to test out your personal limit). At 3MG I got super groggy in the morning but anything lower made me feel normal waking up. I only take this when I need to jump start my sleep cycle again if its out of wack (due to staying up late) and usually itll keep my sleep schedule on track. Ive actually used this on and off for about 2 months and I wake up around the same time now. (AND I NEVER DO or never wake up before 10 without feeling like a swamp monster).I am not doctor and I did not get paid for this review. But I do suggest using it wisely and only occasionally. If you use it frequently your body gets used to how much is in your body and its less effective. I took it 4-6 days straight and realized it was less efficient if I took it too often and frequent. When taken it feels like you are a tad bit dizzy but relaxed. It feels like that awesome sweet spot when you are about to fall asleep and your body is fully relaxed. I would suggest taking these and being prepared for that feeling. It does not make me feel light headed so if you start to feel sleepy you still have time to get to the bedroom and get comfy.Overal I LOVED these chewables. Super delicious and convenient for a college student who needs to wake up for those early morning classes. This did not affect me negatively emotionally or any of my disorders and I did not have side effects except for the occasional groggy feeling. I am not on any other medications so I do not know if it will have adverse reactions if you are on any meds. Good luck!

Works for some
Bought these for my hyper kiddos to get them to calm down before bed. They love to get out of bed and come downstairs every 2 minutes for water, a snack, to go pee, because they have an itch, because there is a bump that all of a sudden popped up, etc...so I tried these and it works for my 6 year old. I give him 1 and he goes to bed and stays in bed. I give about 30 mins before bedtime. My 4 year old...that’s another story...it makes him irritable every single time I have given it to him. It doesn’t seem to make him any more sleepy, just crabby...and then I think about giving him 5 more lol jk. So I stopped even trying to see if they work or if it was just a fluke those few times but nope. Every time it’s the same reaction. So even though he loves the taste and still asks for them, he doesn’t get it ... doesn’t seem to work for him. Both kids like the flavor though so getting them to take it was easy peasy.
