A thorough review... hands down best heating pad for back and spine issues
This heating pad has been my life saver, i would not be able to function in life without this heating pad. I use it for hours Every. Single. Day. I suffered a neck and spine injury a couple years ago. The injury has left me with nerve damage and chronic spasms in my neck, traps, mid back, and shoulder blade region. My spasms are very easily triggered, I usually wake up with a tightness that turns into a spasm in my back. If I get stressed out, my neck will get tight thereby triggering a spam. Lift something with my left arm, here comes another spam. My life is a constant struggle of trying to not bring on back and neck spasms. That being said this heating pad has helped me tremendously.I use it first thing when I wake up to release any tightness I might have gotten in my neck and back from sleeping. And it works. The heat penetrates deep into the muscles relaxing them. If I feel tightness coming on later in the day I use my heating pad for about 20 minutes and it helps release those muscles. I use it at night before bed to calm my muscles down and the heat soothes and makes me sleepy. It's great, I literally use it all day long, all year round. It has saved me from so much pain, helped me from having to take round the clock medications and muscle relaxers and has allowed me to function so much better in daily life. What makes this heating pad so great and different is a few really important things:The Shape. It goes not just on your back but over your shoulders on your traps (which are a muscle of constant tightness for all people) It extend up the back of your neck (another tight area on most people) AND THERE'S ACTUALLY HEATING COILS IN THE NECK PART!!!! The cheaper brands show the neck part but there are no heating elements in them! Trust me I've tried them. That's the biggest difference and why you should buy this Sunbeam over any no name brands that might be cheaper. You're paying for quality. The heating pad can go from slight soothing heat to really hot. It has a controller that goes from warm, low, medium and high. I never use this on bare skin because high can get very hot and actually give you some burns, especially if you lean back against it on a couch or chair (they caution you on the box to never lay or lean on it, but I do all the time, you just have to watch how hot it's getting)It heats up very quickly, in seconds you'll feel the heat which is great. The material of this heating pad vs other sunbeam heating pads is much softer. It has a very silky soft minky cover which is nice. The only thing I will caution on, is do not twist the shoulder straps. I got into the habit of wrapping them up in the front around my neck like a turtleneck because the front of my neck gets tight. But after a few months of pulling them in a way they weren't supposed to go, I damaged the heating wires in the neck part. As a result it would get super super hot and burn me in that spot. So I learned my lesson and it's not the fault of Sunbeam, I really was bending and damaging the wires inside it. So I ordered a new one and this one I am careful not to bend it that way. So use caution, it's not good to fold the pad in half or sit on it etc, there are little wire coils inside that can be damaged that way.I've owned and tried many heating pads since my spine injury and this Sunbeam heating pad is the best to hit all of the areas I need. It has been a lifesaver for me. If you need lower back heat, this will only reach to the bottom of your rib cage depending on how tall you are. I am 5'5" and that's where it stops on me. But If your looking for heat on your neck, shoulders, upper and mid back all at once...this is the heating pad for you.

Really love this ❤️
Not only does this warm me up it relaxes my neck muscles and my shoulder muscles and my back all the way up into my head. It does exactly what it says it does. There's a magnet in the front to snap it together. I would suggest you buy one especially if you have a lot of tension in your neck shoulders and back. Strain muscles pulled muscles it works. A great value for the money also has auto shut off so you don't have to worry about going to sleep and it's staying on. The size fits perfectly around my shoulders and it's very easy to use.

Worked Great! Buying Another One After SIX Years! :)
I purchased this in March 2019. It's April 2025 and I'm just now having to replace it. I've used it daily, sometimes multiple times per day. I'm replacing it because it seems there is a short in the cord/wiring by the control switch which will cause it to turn off if the cord/controller is even slightly twisted (which is a good thing for safety!) It actually still heats up great, but for safety reasons, and not wanting to constantly have to unplug it to reset, I'm ordering another one.I looked at several other cheaper ones and this one still seems to be the best for this price point and size.FYI: For people complaining about the price increase, I paid $44.99 + tax in Mar 2019. It's literally only a few dollars more right now. Even if it was $10 more I would still be buying another one.The link below is to another review for this product from someone else. They worded it great and I very much agree with it. It's more detailed than mine.Review on Amazon: A thorough review... hands down best heating pad for back and spine issues https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/B00LX5CR0M/R10HNLAS4XUB92?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_dprv_C0V6C3BNHM1BE130ZEFD&language=en-US

Gets warm, stays warm, and is very comfortable
I ended up purchasing this heating pad after I ordered another one that didn't get warm or stay warm. This one, however, doesn't have that problem. The low or medium setting is plenty warm for me, and it stays that temperature until either I shut it off or the auto-shutoff kicks in.I also love the shape. The previous heating pad was just a rectangle. It was hard to arrange on my neck and shoulders, which is where I need the heat to relieve my painful muscle spasm. This one drapes comfortably over my shoulders, and like another review said, I want to be clear that the bit that comes up the back of your neck *does* have heating elements in it. It also drapes far enough down my back (I'm a male, about 5'11") that I get benefit for my shoulder blades, too.The reason for 4 stars instead of 5:The part that comes up your neck doesn't wrap around your neck to get the sides, and the bit in the front doesn't clasp as snugly as I would like. There is a magnet in the two sides that holds them together and holds it on you. This is a clever design. BUT, it only goes around like you see in the picture -- it falls somewhat far away from my neck, and there's a patch in the front (like a v-neck shirt) above where the magnets hold it together. To make it ideal, there would be a way to hold it together much more snugly around my neck, so it would get the sides too. I tried clipping it together in the front so that the front pieces cross over each other with a clothespin, but the edge of the pad is too thick for the clothespin to fit over. Same with a binder clip... too thick and it can't get around the padding on the edge. I'm going to keep looking for something around the house that can hold it together a bit better so that the sides of my neck get the warmth from the pad, too.But overall I'm satisfied and I'll be using this pad. It's a bit more expensive that a bunch of other pads on Amazon, but it works much better in terms of heating than them (even better than the highest rated pads), and the design is clever, to target neck, shoulders, and upper back.
