This is suggested reading for 3rd grade in Louisiana and I understand why. It is a well written chronicle of the Lewis and Clark expedition, an important part of US and Louisiana history. I did read this one aloud with my granddaughter because the reading level is very challenging for 3rd grade, mostly because of the historical element. She needed help navigating the story itself and reading it together allowed for that. This is a good read for kids! The book itself is attractive, well illustrated, and sturdy.

This was an enthralling book to read with my kiddos! They were absolutely interested in every moment of this book. I love the way it is written from the very words of their own journals! Such an interesting way to bring this expedition to life! The illustrations add even more life to this exciting journey. I highly recommend this read!

I read and loved undaunted courage. Living in Pittsburgh, so much history. My nephew lives in Arkansas but we spend a lot of time together. He is a huge fan of American history as he lives near Pea Ridge he loves the civil war. ( me too) but I wanted to give him some PGH related history and the book “ undaunted courage” was too old for him. I typed that title in adding “for kids” and this was one choice. He really enjoyed it. He read it to me and it had a good bit of info his parents have the adult version for when he is old enough. My sister said he reads it to his younger brother too. ❤️

This is a good book, well illustrated for young readers. If your child shows interest in exploring this would be a good start. I had hoped it would be expanded a little more.

Excellent resource for young kids. I appreciate the text from the journals of Lewis and Clark themselves. Bought it specifically for my kindergartner while my 3rd and 4th grader were reading about Lewis and Clark from our Sonlight package, so she could feel included. My older kids enjoyed it as much as she did. :)
