Not accurate (revised)
Update:Changed to 3 stars because including instructions could have saved some returnd. Seems that some of these are being sent out improperly adjusted. This is probably causing the incorrect readings others are reporting.I managed to get mine to start giving correct readings as follows:1) use a digital thermometer as reference2) Add water to a container, enough to submerge at least half of the thermometer probe.3) Add some ice to significantly drop tem of water to around 15C/59F.4) Put the digital thermometer in and note reading5) add this thermometer and let settle for at least 1 minute.6) quickly pull this thermometer out and, while firmly holding the dial, use a small wrench or plier to twist the nut located under the dial to move the needle to match what the digital thermometer is reading.Do this a few times as your hand will heat up the thermometer and chage the needle's location. This should address the problem thermometers that have been giving the wrong reading. As always:Your milage may varyDo this at your own riskMay void manufacturer warrantyI make no claims as to the correctness of the information posted above.___Took out of box and noticed it was reading temp a bit higher than room temp.Placed in water with ice cubes and it never got below 60F/16C.Added a digital thermometer that reads, after ice cubes melted, 72F/63C while this thermometer os reading 85F/30C. This is completely useless for developing as it is very temperature dependent.Returning asap.

Accurate for film processing
I recently started processing film at home again, after leaving it for over 20 years. I needed a thermometer for checking and monitoring the temperature of water baths and chemicals. This works quite well. It is accurate within a half degree F which is sufficient for color film processing, It responds to temperature changes quickly, like when I put it in a bottle of developer to check the temperature before pouring it into the developing tank. The price was reasonable. The attached photos are black and white shots were developed using this thermometer to verify that the temperature was within the correct range. Black and white is more forgiving than color, but the photos came out well with both Kodak TMAX 100 and Kodak Tri-x 400.

You have to adjust it
It came out of calibration. I had to adjust the dial to match other thermometers and ultimately used a digital thermometer to reset the dial.

Was not at all accurate out of the box
Like many metal stem thermometers, it’s important to periodically check the accuracy with a known value. My copy of this thermometer read 60° in a glass of ice water. It obviously should read 32°. There is a hex nut on the back of the dial that you can use to twist the pointer to 32° once in ice water. I have an older Taylor model thermometer that reads accurately and did so when new apparently. That might be to much to ask from these cheaper brands. That thermometer was twice as expensive and I can’t seem to find it anymore. This one seems to be ok now that I’ve adjusted it. I highly recommend that you check it first.

Just OK
It’s very cheap—and inexpensive

Works for me
Bought this to measure the temp of photographic chemicals for film and print development. It reads quickly, seems accurate enough and has suited my needs well. I like how long it is and the clip is very handy.

Doesn't work. Plain and simple
It was reading 80 when it came out of the box which was a red flag, especially in December. I put it in a cup of cold water with ice cubes for 20 minutes and it never got lower than about 68 Fahrenheit. This is supposed to be for developing film where a few degrees difference can vastly affect developing times. Completely unusable garbage. Returning it and going to my local camera store like I should have done in the first place.

Doesnt work, lowest temperature is 80 not accurate above that
In air temp in the mid 60's it reads 80, cant lower it. unfortuantley i ordered this about a month before using it so i cant return it and will have to buy another. lots of options out there, dont choose this one

Muy mal calibrado. Uno de cocina es más exacto.
Mal empacado.
