Revell 1/72 F-22 Raptor Plastic Model Kit

Good detail on this little guy. Works well in my emerging in air diorama. You won't regret getting this one. Weapons are numerous and detailed.

I was really surprised to see the quality and details of the kit, mainly because of 2 reasons. One: it is a 1:72 kit, usually they don't have much details. Two: it's from Revell, I don't always like the quality of kits they produce. Since this is one of the more recently manufactured kits, it is of a much better quality. It comes with a lot of decal choices (in one sheet) for markings.Not recommended for beginners.

In the end the model is worth the $$. Some fitting and gap issues in getting the upper & lower fuselage halves together. Air intakes were poorly designed and troublesome to fit without gaps. The vertical stabilizers are angled and had to completely paint and decal & finish those pieces before glueing on with slight difficulty. The bomb bays are optional open/closed. Making them open looked mind boggling so I went for closed and you have to do quite a bit of trimming to get the hinges off so that they stay flush. They should just include separate doors for that.. arguably the hardest part is the paint. Everyone tries to replicate the F-22's metallic "sheen" and it took a lot of time and messing around to get it remotely close. I used aggressor gray, mixed in with gray metallic. Light ghost gray for the edges. In the end it looks good, not great I think but worth the price.

Got this (along with some basic military colors Testor model paint) for my 11 year old son’s best friend’s birthday. The boy likes it, and said it was a good model to put together and paint. That’s a pretty high recommendation, for that age group. LOL.

My main body of the model was so poorly printed that it ended up causing the entire model to be trashed. The figment was so poor for the bay doors they were unable to be attached to the model. Another poor print issue caused us to have to try and undo the body of the plane to try and fix the issue which resulted in the wing being ripped. I’ve done many revell models in the past , including an f22 with no issues. This was very disappointing to see the quality of their product being so poor.

I liked but just to small than I thought it would be compared to other jets purchased. The shipper/seller though sent this out very fast

My grandson has to wait for a parent to help him assemble and paint the model.
