Great tone and no noise
This pickup, when tested alone, demonstrated great clarity and tone for the middle (and rarely used by many) pickup position. It's a bit tragic, because I put this in my Nashville Telecaster project guitar, and I think this pickup needs to be heard alone to really appreciate it (it's wired so it only sound in positions 2 & 4). Given that this is a low noise stacked pickup, if that is what you need, I don't think you can go wrong, unless you're looking for a more strident tone. In my noiseless equipped telecaster neck and bridge pickup guitar, it sits perfectly.

STK-S4m great for my middle pickup
I upgraded my HSS Ibanez and used this for the middle position. It sounds awesome!General advice so you don't repeat my mistakes:This is a 4-wire pickup, and my old pickup just had two wires. After much reading, found out that one of the wires must float (not connected), two go to ground and the third goes to my switch. Moral of the story, it should sound great after install, if it sounds weak, you wired it up incorrectly.

Amazing tone, very rich and hum free!
This pickup has an amazing tone, in both configurations (white or red-white) and has strong output. These are going into a custom built HSS Jackson DK1 style guitar, I also have the STK-S4b on the neck position, they play well and gives a lot of sound possibilities. The H pickup I am running is an SD TB-15 Alt-8 pickup. The reason for the 4 stars is that the mounting hardware was lacking, didn't came with springs or wood screws like a lot of my other pickups have to install on a solid wood guitar, just two thick rubber hose grommets and two fine threaded screws which you can't use directly on wood (probably meant for strats, which I don't have); easy to fix but inconvenient if you don't happen to have the screws/springs handy... and especially so for the price you pay they could've threw in there two springs and a couple of long thin wood screws to boot.

Great sound for a hotter than usual single coil
Great sound for a hotter than usual single coil. Great if you want to keep that Strat sound but are needing a little more output than what comes from the factory. I have a set of "Noiseless" also and these compare quite well, with a slightly higher output.

Fender spank/twang
That thin sound can be achieved. Got this one as a middle PU to a HSH guitar. Sounds great. The only complain (and maybe this is my fault) is that it can be coilsplit, but the effect is hardly noticeable. But I can tell that it's in coilsplit mode because of the increase in noise. Oh well no big loss; I'm just a bedroom guitar player.

... the cabels is really buttery soft - not firm like my other SD pickups
The outer sheathing of the cabels is really buttery soft - not firm like my other SD pickups. The inner wires were more fragile than the other pickup wiring too. It was harder to strip down the wires from soldering. Having some issues with the overall soldering - so my Strat isn't up and running fully yet.
