A must for braces
It is recommended by many family dentists and orthodontists for people who are going through braces. So I bought these for our kids to get around the wire in order to floss their teeth. I have looked at a few other brands, and this is strong enough to hold its shape and not bend. It is fairly easy to use. It easily gets behind the orthodontic wire for flossing. For our kids it is easy to hold. They have average to slender finger sizes. Our friends also use this exact brank, and they say the same thing. It might be hard to use for people with large fingers and hands. It is quite costly at 22 cent a piece. It is recommended not to use it more than once, so the cost adds up. My kinds go through a bag a month. Other than that it works great.

These are perfect!
Perfect! My son didn’t tell me he was out of these and we had to do the old fashioned “needle and thread” technique with regular floss. Such a pain! Reordered these immediately! They make it so easy!

How these helped me floss quickly and without crying and giving up
I am a 46-year-old woman who just got braces. It has been quite the journey during the first week getting used to them and all their "friends": the sores in my inner cheek, the difficulty eating food and eliminating certain foods I used to eat, and especially the challenge of keeping my teeth and gums clean. These Platypus flossers have helped tremendously. I did a lot of research on different orthodontics flossing devices, and I ending up buying these flossers along with Oral-B Superfloss, G.U.M. Go Betweens Proxabrushes, regular floss to be used occasionally with the threader from my orthodontist, and a 10X magnification mirror. I went from being in tears trying to floss my teeth to finally heaving a sigh of relief with a smile once I figured out how to keep my teeth clean. Here is what I have found works best:The Platypus flossers are wonderful, easy to use, and the easiest of all the flossers in terms of "feel". That is, I don't have to look in the mirror to use them. I can easily tell by feel where to place the Platypus under the wire between my brackets. However, these flossers do NOT work when the brackets are placed very closely together. This is the case with my bicuspids and cuspids. Due to how my teeth need to move and rotate properly, my orthodontist placed the brackets on two adjoining teeth (on each side) very, very closely together, so the Platypus flosser does not fit at all in between these teeth because the space between the brackets is too narrow. It won't even fit under the arch wire!In that case, the Oral-B Superfloss is my perfect solution. I can easily thread its tiny, narrow, stiff end right in between the narrowest of crevices (under the arch wire) in order to floss. It works even better than the stiff threader my orthodontist provided. I wouldn't be able to floss everything without it.For my premolars and molars, both the Superfloss and these Platypus flossers work almost equally well. Again, the Platypus flossers work best in the rear of my mouth where the brackets are spaced more widely apart due to the larger size of the molars. I use the G-U-M Go Betweens back here, also, because they are perfect for clearing packed food from between my brackets and around the arch wire. Finally, the other indispensable part of my flossing routine is the stand-up 10X magnification mirror. Before I ordered it from Amazon, I wasn't able to see in the way back of my mouth where I needed to floss because my jaw is so narrow. I needed both hands to separate my lips and cheek from the flossing area, and I couldn't do that while holding a mirror.Right now, with all of these tools, I can floss faster and more easily! I hope this helps all those frustrated souls who, like me, struggle with very crowded teeth and newly placed braces and who were beginning to think flossing effectively would be impossible. It's not if you have the right tools. Don't give up, and you will find the solution that is best for you.

Works great
Works great for my son who just went into braces. Helps him be more consistent with his flossing everyday (where were these when I had braces...gone are the days of having to use a threader with the floss). A little expensive I think but they work.

A Game-Changer for Braces Care
The Platypus Orthodontic Flossers have been an absolute game-changer for my daughter's braces care journey. Upon receiving recommendations from her orthodontist post-braces installation, we were presented with a range of flossing options. Out of the three choices provided, these flossers emerged as the clear winner in her eyes, and I couldn't agree more.Ease of use has been a pivotal factor in our positive experience with these flossers. My daughter finds them incredibly straightforward and hassle-free, making her daily oral care routine a breeze. The design of these flossers aligns perfectly with the challenges of braces, allowing her to effectively navigate around wires and brackets. What sets these flossers apart is their ability to make flossing less daunting for anyone with braces. Their design not only simplifies the process but also encourages consistency in oral hygiene. It's no surprise that my daughter has taken to them so enthusiastically.

Not standard/ usable for all braces as advertised
I recently got braces, third time in my life so not new to me, but I was truly elated that so many years later there is now a "braces friendly' form of this type of floss. I hate regular braces flossing and all the threading and time that takes, so this looked awesome, but despite having some areas with a lot of room between my teeth and the wire and others where wire and teeth are very close, I still find even with the item specifically made for braces, it gets stuck with every use (even with big gap areas). I didn't expect these to be usable for the very tight spaces of course, but given their unique shape and being advertised for braces specifically, they still have a piece (almost like a little stitch) that catches the wire almost no matter what, and i end up having to move just as slowing as I would with traditional threaders if I don't want to break a wire but do want to actually clean my teeth. I was truly so excited to see this development compared to when I was a kid 20 years ago with braces, but am really disappointed that they're generally not too usable even with having a wide range of spaces to test them on.I do have a water flosser too, but thought these would be a perfect, quicker and more mobile option to also have on hand. I think the concept is great, but even with the spatula side, there's a piece that sticks out and catches the wire consistently. Really wished these were more dependable as advertised (the little piece that sticks out is really really hard to see, now looking back at the photo on amazon from when I bought it, and i think that's perhaps the most frustrating part).
