A must have for building science diagnostics.
The smoke pen works perfect for building science diagnostics. It has just the right amount of smoke to visually aid in finding air leaks. They are small enough for tight places and visible enough to see in larger draft areas.These may be a little pricey for an individual but, for the professional they are priceless.Compared to the mini, battery powered smoke generating pencils, these as good and 100% reliable as there is no components to fail, batteries to rely on or smoke liquid required. You could just burn the wick by itself if needed in a pinch but the pen makes it much ire convenient.The only down side is the smoke smell if someone is sensitive to it and the ash which is minimal and manageable.

Professional grade smoke pen. Will last forever.
Arrived quickly, in perfect shape and worked great. Used it right away and with the wicks that are included, this would be a once in a lifetime purchase. I think this will last me, and frankly my friends to whom I will loan it, for years and years. Great product. Would buy again.

works okay but leaves a fairly strong smell
I saw the one review that said odorless and maybe in a sense it is. But I was surprised how strong a "burnt" smell it leaves in my clothes I am wearing when I use it and my hair. Better than using a cigarette for a smoke source, but not as side effect free as I'd hoped.I'll give it 4 stars rather than a 3, but if I could I'd give it a 3.5 instead.

Marginal Performance
Like others have said you must relight it every several minutes. I found waving it in the air seems to make it last just a little longer. The smoke can be gagging if you inhale it and the smell remains for a while. For me I am going back to incense.

Very easy to use.
This is real simple to use and the trail of smoke is clearly visible. Just take care of not losing the plastic cap, and order several replacement wicks soon, you will use them quickly if you use this pen often. I had an electric smoke generator before which was infinitely more difficult to use. I'm glad I changed to this product.

Worse use of hard earned money.
This thing is worthless and I should get a complete refund! This thing won't stay lit for more than a minute if that.Total waste. I never have said anything negative this way before but this thing deserves it. Wish I could leave a "0"Please don't waste your money like I did.

Works perfectly!!
Works great!! Produces plenty of smoke to find leaks. Already made my money back in finding leaks in bad gaskets and door frames.

Not that great
Would I buy this again? NOPROS:* Small size* Easy to cap when done* Works ok for small jobs - less than 5 minutes.CONS:* Not the easiest thing to get lit, nor to keep going. Don't expect this to product smoke for more than 1-3 minutes at a time.* Has to be re-lit every few minutes.* It's difficult to feed out more of the wick - it either doesn't come out at all ... or almost falls out entirely.* Smoke smells like a burned out candle, and after a while it gets irritating.* It's an open flame (of sorts) so care needs to be taken around anything combustible.I bought this to find leaks in my HVAC system, but frankly it was too much of a hassle. I was in a tight crawlspace and had to be careful to not touch any insulation with it, or touch it myself, and frequently had to stop and re-light it. It's probably fine for checking windows and doors for leaks, but not in tight spaces.
