Very happy
My old phone never worked right from the day I bought it. Some generic off brand. So I spent $2 for the name brand (Panasonic). Well worth it and this phone works great! Does everything I want. You can also record or use default recording on answering machine.

Great value. Great Features
Had a similar for numerous years. Finally "died". New device is easy too use, easy to read and "voice" feature advising of caller is a real plus for "spam" or "friends" to facilitate no answer or answer!

Volume on handset and speaker is low, even after adjusting to full volume.
Overall the three phones that were purchased with many features. However, it did take a while to go through the manual and discover how to use all of these features, once established I am becoming more familiar with the phones. With the base unit and two add on phones, it is great to see that when one change was made it registers in the base unit and is functional across all three phones. The only negative is that the volume when using the handset and when on speaker is not as loud as my previous phones. Insomuch that rather than using the speaker, I get one of the other phones so each of us has our own handset.

Actually OK so far, but advertisement left out important information
The packaging on this phone stated that it was a refurbished item. I don't recall reading that on the Amazon site. ( If somehow I overlooked it then it may be partially my failure to notice, but any refurbished item should prominently described as such). However I tried the phone. It seems to work nicely so far except for the odd fact that even though I charged the phone for 7 hours as per the instructions , the "battery indicator" seems to still indicate that the battery is very low. It does not seem to change. Not so far. The answering machine is an important feature I bought the phone for. My previous phone was a cordless one (Motorola C1011LX Dect 6.0 ) but without an accompanying answering machine. I had to attach a separate answering machine a AT&T 1740 Digital Answering system which is a very good answering machine because it has a time and date stamp and announces the phone number of the caller as well as the time and day of the call. The answering machine of the Panasonic KX-TGD530W Cordless Phone does not announce the caller's number or the date and time of the call. It merely tells you that a call was recorded. If you want to see when a certain call was made you have to look at the small screen and press a certain button on the handset to see the phone number and the date and time of the call. Not bad really . Other phones have no way at all to let you know when the call came in , but I would like this phone/answering machine better if it announced the date and time. The Panasonic KX-TGD530W Cordless Phone was overall easier to set up and uses fewer wire attachments than the Motorola C1011LX Dect 6.0 phone and the AT&T 1740 Digital Answering system connected to each other. That is one good thing. Also the Motorola C1011LX does not have a lit-up touch pad.It will take me some getting used to the Panasonic KX-TGD530W. I had been using my other phone for so long. Some of the features of the Panasonic KX-TGD530W are to my liking but I am still not sure if I will keep it.The fact that the battery does not seem to charge fully is a problem.I might have to get a different phone that works right. In a way I regret it. I like this Panasonic KX-TGD530W though I wish it were designed with better features.UPDATE 12-19-19: After a few months the phone works decently. I guess it is OK for the price I paid. Not perfect. One setback is that the little screen only lights up when you pick up the hand-set or receiver, also when the phone rings. It would be a convenience is it stayed lit all the time or even when the phone is docked. I had been using regular batteries (size AAA) in the unit since I got it. The batteries were not a major brand name but they were supposedly a generic brand that is as good as some of the top brands. But recently the phone was not working right. It seemed to have "low energy" and I put in new , stronger batteries (Duracell) but then the little screen said I should use rechargeable batteries. I found it odd that only when I put in Duracell batteries did I get that message. It is a setback that the unit has to have regular batteries installed instead of having a permanent rechargeable battery built in or at least that you have to change only every few years. So this phone is OK. I am glad it worked properly when I recently got an emergency call in the night from my brother telling me I had to rush to his home because our sister was experiencing a severe asthma attack and I had to bring her to the hospital. But It still does not have features I would really like, but after saying that, it is extremely hard to find an affordably priced cordless phone with an answering machine attached that also has a speakerphone and displays the number of the caller and also has a good rechargeable battery built into the unit and also announces the date and time of the call. Oh BTW, in my original review above I said that the unit does not mention the date and time of call. Actually it does, but after it has played the message. My previous answering machine announced it before the message was played. It took me a bit of getting used to, but I think I will keep this phone unless it really malfunctions. I guess I have no choice at this point since I have owned it so long. I guess I cannot merely return it. I have gotten a bit used to it too.I have to find out about size AAA rechargeable batteries for it. IN the meantime regular-use batteries are working fine. I will update again if there is anything else to update about.
