Bits and Pieces Deluxe Wooden Sudoku Board Game

I love this board set and use it daily but.......
I love this board set and use it daily. I gave it four stars only because the extra 90 thinking numbers should be part of the set. Anyone who does Su Doku needs more than 81 of these numbers. The extra set by Wood Expressions is very inexpensive but you have to order it separately and that's a fault with Bits and Pieces. Another fault is the booklet with instruction for doing Su Doku. It consists of a few sentences; not nearly enough for challenging puzzles. So you have to get a book which gives good instructions and strategies. The one I recommend is Su Doku for Dummies. This board set, the extra set of thinking tiles and the Dummies book and a player is good to go!

It's okay
Great idea, mediocre execution. The small "thinking tiles" are inconsistently made which can prevent you from placing 3 or 4 in a cell. Inconsistencies with the cutouts for each cell may also contribute to this problem. If it were my product I'd hold manufacturing to a higher standard. I'd also consider magnetizing the board and tiles so that jarring the board or having it propped up in your lap wouldn't displace the tiles.

I really like it, but the workmanship is not quite what it should be. The drawers don't slide smoothly type of thing, but it is great to be able to do Sudoku games and keep all the pieces together. I just wish there was room to put the little tiles in the opposite drawer from the bigger ones and still have room for the booklet. I would order it again .

The wood numbered squares, as well as the smaller numbers for marking possible numbers work well. The drawer to keep the squares in were missing several dividers to store the numbers. I made some dividers from cardboard to work for storage, but the pieces should all be there.

Great concept, but very poorly made.
This is a great idea, but this game is made so poorly it detracts from it's purpose. The drawers stuck so badly we had to sand them to get them to fit. Several of the tiles were missing, and a few were broken. The top of the game board we got was stained and dirty (see pic). It was embarrassing seeing this come out of the box on Christmas!Bottom line: This is poorly made. Even if it weren't, it provides no benefit over paper-n-pencil. The amount of time spent setting it up and putting it away negates the convenience factor.

Good Deisgn; Rough Finish
This is far superior to the previous sudoku board games I have found but the natural wood of the game board is unfinished pine. I would have expected it to be more sanded (as it is, I won't be shocked if someone gets a splinter) but it does help the tiles stay in place.

Great board!
I love Sudoku, it is fun and relaxing. This board is well built and easy to use. I have but one complaint, the small letters have not been sized down to the board, so they are rather lumpy until replaced with a full-size number block. This summer I will pull out my Dremel tools and shave down the pieces until they fit. This game is worth it.

Functional, but not best quality.
Need more of the small numbers. The wood was poorly finished. Hard to open/close drawer when full of the large numbers. Minimal clearance.Wish it had a lid. But, in theory, good for doing puzzles.

Good puzzle
This is a good set and I am very happy with it. However as someone else found out it is not well glued. My box came apart on opening. But as it is well made it was very easy to use PVA glue on the affected joints. My only real disappointment was that the small pieces should allow 4 into a single square. That is not possible. I had to sandpaper 81 pieces to fit. That took some time but if you like Sudoko this is great way to solve the harder puzzles. While I had some minor issues, I do not regret buying this. I think the machine that was cutting these squares was needing to be reset.

Overpriced for what you get
The board itself is fine, not £40 worth though when you compare to others available, and for the price, the box is REALLY cheap and nasty looking. If you NEED the little pieces to put in all the 'maybes' then it's pretty much the only one out there, but otherwise don't waste your money - it's no better than the other cheaper boards out there.

Good but quality could be better
I am a bit disappointed by the quality of the letters, particular the small ones. Also four at once is physical not possible. Of course not everybody is worried by quality. It is the same with scrabble games. in earlier years their quality was superb compared to today. Anyway, you're also making a Sudoku game which costs nearly three times as the one I got, but looking at the comments for the dearer one, and they have similar views.
