Very happy
Just received my package , can't wait to use with my grandaughter. I have used this product before and i have been happy with the results . Only the drying time is the long wait . 24 hour wait is the best for drying time. You can use the oven but it will be a little brittle I noticed and brakes easily. Best results is air dry

I don’t know what happened
Okay Sugarveil, you get 5 stars because your products are normally fantastic BUT-this bag did not work at all. I tried severalTimes baking and it was so brittle each time even on the lowest setting for 4 minutes at 179- it was so dried out! Then I tried air drying a few batches-sticky and never dried. The date was fine so maybe the mix was weird, I’m at a loss! I can’t even get my few dollars back because I used the whole bag -pretty disappointed with this one!

Terrible instructions!
I had to research how to make the mix online. Never came together properly and didn't work at all. Total waste!!

I HAVE TIPS FOR USING THIS PRODUCT!
Would give 5 stars if it did not have such a peculiar smell [when mixed] this time. I've ordered this before and didn't notice a smell. The smell DID go away then the product dried.TIPS FOR USING THIS PRODUCT WITH LACE MATS: Instead of using the suggested corn starch to prep your mats, give them a light coat spray of non-stick cooking oil. Any brand seems to do. I used the generic Kroger brand and it works great. If you have some gum arabic, add 1/2 tsp to your powder before mixing with boiling water. No big deal if you don't have the gum arabic..I've found that it gives a little more elasticity, but your lace will still come out okay without it. DO NOT shortcut the mixing time. You will see this product become thicker as you mix. After spreading the sugarveil on the oiled mats (I use a bench scraper) I place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and bake on 170 degrees for 2-4 minutes. Bake two minutes for smaller projects and 4 minutes for large or multiple mats. The last thing I do [after removing the mats from the oven] is to place the cookie sheet with the mats in front of a small fan set to low speed. I let them sit in front of the running fan for a few hours. If you don't have the fan, I recommend letting them set over night. Trying to remove the lace from the mats too soon is a common mistake when using this product. When you see the lace separating from the mat, you know it's ready. The lace should slide/peel off from the mat with ease using this method.HANDLING: Be gentle when handling sugar lace. If you have to pull the lace off the mat, pull the mat from the lace. Try not to pull the lace from the mat. Pulling on the lace can stretch it out of your desired shape or cause breakage. I use a toothpick to help remove stubborn sections. When I first started using Sugarveil, I spent the majority of my time making a mess and piecing together broken lace. Now that I have made the adjustments above, my lace comes our perfect every time with no breakage!STORING: When I want to make lace a couple of days ahead-of-time, I gently wrap my finished pieces in deli paper or wax paper, seal them in a ziploc bag, and place the bag into an airtight plastic container. Remember to handle gently. Trying to store the lace for more than 2 or 3 days proved futile for me. The lace crumbled with the most gentle handling. If you find that your sugar lace is not pliable after storing for 2 or 3 days, you can sometimes bring it back to life with a little steam. I wish I had these tips when I first started using Sugarveil. So, I"m passing them on in hopes of helping someone else! If you really want to make cakes with the beautiful lace [vintage look] that everyone seems to love, don't give up on Sugarveil I would order a couple of packets until you get proficient. I've been able to store unused sugarveil batter in an airtight container for a day or two. When you open the container, be prepared for that smell again. I usually add a teaspoon of hot water to the mixture and give it a stir before using it again.

Fun product to use
Fun product to use! Even if I can't seem to get oven setting to work.. Have patience and keep at it. The air drying takes a while but is the easiest way begin understanding the texture you're ultimately looking for

Not newbie friendly...and you only get one chance
I am giving it 2 stars as I have to be honest that this was my first attempt using the product so there could be some user error. I was surprised that the entire package is used for 1 batch. This was problematic because I was concerned that if I messed up and needed to reassess the situation, my back was up against a wall for time. Plus, with limited mats, now I had to store the excess product in the meantime; it became a big mess.I went with 2 methods to prevent non-stick; cornstarch per product instructions and Pam spray per user review. I will say that although neither lifted clean or easy, the spray was definitely the better option. I opted to air dry the lace as this was my first time and I thought I could watch the progress a little more closely rather than throw caution to the wind and put it in the oven. It sat for over 24 hours. It seemed to be set, although it was very hard to work with, broke VERY easily, and remained gummy (not sure if that is supposed to be the end texture).Long story short, I definitely feel like I wasted $7 on the product. I couldn't use and of what I made as even if there was a small portion that looked ok, there wasn't enough for me to use on my overall cookie set. Really bummed about this product fail.

Did not work as planned
I had some trouble with this product. I have never used it before so it was probably my fault. I followed the directions on the Sugarveil website but it was very brittle after drying and fell apart. I ended up using the Cake Lace that I already had. I will give it another try as there were 2 pouches included. I don't want to blame the product here because I am sure I did something wrong, so that is why 3 stars instead of 1.
