It Came in the Mail

When you were little, did you make frequent visits to the mailbox only to discover that the mail was never for you? I sure did! And now that I’m an adult, it seems like all the mail is bills or junk. No wonder we call it Happy Mail when a special surprise or delivery arrives!⁣Like many kids, Liam just wants some mail. So he decides to write a letter to his mailbox asking for something BIG in return. As soon as he puts the letter in the mailbox, the mailbox begins to make strange noises and shake. When Liam looks inside, a dragon greets him with a blast of fire. He loves the dragon so much that he writes to the mailbox asking for even more surprises. This pattern continues until Liam has more things than he can handle. That’s when he comes up with his best idea yet and realizes that the best packages are even better when he can share them with friends!⁣

My boys 5 and 7 like this book. I like it a lot too. It's entertaining and has a good message about teaching the kids to share. He wishes to receive stuff in the mail. Everyday he wishes for more and more things. Then he realizes he has too much stuff and askes the mailbox to take the stuff back and send it to other kids.

My five and seven year old thought this one was, "just okay" and I have to agree. The story is lacking and the illustrations are not particularly intriguing with a dull color scheme used throughout. As someone else commented, this book is really one for children to read to themselves, but I'd add that by time they can, they may find the story boring.

The cutest little book ever! My son, a new first grader has found a love for reading. He’s flying through all the books on our bookcases. I wanted something a little more challenging. This one met those standards, but it didn’t take him long to pick up the new words and finish the book.

This is a cute book. It's not really for reading aloud unless you're really good at improvising. It's more for kids to read to themselves and use their imaginations with the way it's set up and how they word or don't word things. I bought it used. It's in an okay condition.

Artistically and story-wise, this book is ridiculously adorable. The illustrations on mail material are endearing with cute little details and jokes (Ex. French snail named Wes Cargo). The moral of sharing and being grateful for what you have are there without beating you over the head or being overly cheesy.I loved this book as much as my nephew, if not more.

This was a silly little book that my students loved. I enjoyed that it showcased a kid revising their letter for their audience. (A wonderful plus to our writing lesson.)

I bought this book to read to my grand daughter’s first grade class as a mystery reader. The class really engaged with the story. Everyone loves to receive mail, and to think a mailbox could dispense dragons etc is pure fun!

It is a super fun book and all I needed for my boy who is always asking if there's something in the mail for him!

Amazing! New favorite bed time story! So funny!
