Casper Custom-Cut Retractable Single Door Screen (White)

Old swinging screen door broke and I wanted to replace it with a more attractive retractable option. Casper is a family owned USA company in addition to having the best reviews. Once the order was placed, the owner reached out to confirm the exact sizing of my door opening. After I confirmed sizing, the fabrication & shipping took less than a week.I love the look, function & durability so far, as well as supporting a family owned company. If you are considering a few options, you won't go wrong with Casper!Pros:*Easy to install (took me about 20 minutes with just a drill)*Low profile- it is hard to tell the screen is there when open or closed*Durable- Due to low profile, I have had a 60lb dog and 3 different kids faceplant into the screen. Knocked it out of the frame and everything. Screen has popped back into place easily each time with no signs of damage.*Magnetic strip that holds screen closed is much stronger than expected and holds well even in heavy wind.*Adjustable height handles are great for keeping handle out of kid hand range or lowering to make it accessible to little ones.Cons:*Bottom of screen does not lock into the track, so strong winds blow the bottom of the screen out of the track. Dogs/cats could probably push through this unsecured area(my dog doesn't do this).*No written install instructions. Though it is all online/youtube and very intuitive(there are only 4pc in the kit +screws).

Shipping was amazing, but every single measurement is too big, I doubt this is truly custom. Why say measure to the 1/16th inch if everything is 1/16”-1/4” to big. I thought perhaps that how it was supposed to be, so I tapped them into place, which then resulted in everything around my door being messed up and the paint being pulled off. This was after trying to figure out both the written and video instructions, both absolutely aweful. On top of that the one bit that made sense in the video was to bend the magnetic strip into place, but apparently if you bend it it does not bounce back, it just stays bent. After 2.5 hours of messing with it, I finally took it all apart, now I have to redo my entry way due to all the screw holes and destroyed paint. Over all a great idea, but horrible on the measurements and horrible instructions. I hope to see this company succeed in the future as it is a great idea, just not there yet.(This is coming from someone who works construction every day and actually sent them to the 1/16 measurements). If anyone else orders, just tell them 1/16 less on all measurements and be careful with bending the magnetic strip into place.

This is a great product, and best of all, it’s MADE IN THE USA WITH USA customer service. We ordered a double for around $500, but I got a call from a lovely person in customer service who told us we only needed a single for around $300. She spent time with me on the phone and by e-mail discussing the differences between the single and double doors - all that time spent to SAVE me $200 and do what was best for MY situation. Very impressed by that!!! I would definitely recommend them and buy from them again.A couple notes on installation. The videos and written instructions assume that the handles are already on the door and that the little guides are already on the ends of the screen where the magnet is. Ours were not. I assembled the whole thing and then had to take it all apart to put those pieces on. They have to go on before you start the assembly. Ours were in the bag with the screws instead of on the door.

Purchased a single sliding screen for a door to an upstairs deck. Once installed, the door looks and performs amazing! The reason for 4 stars vs 5 is 1) getting it all to fit together in an oversized door and be square (straight) is not as easy as the video claims. 2) The written instructions it comes with are not very useful. (Although they do tell you repeatedly to watch the video) 3) And here’s the real reason, no where that I saw, do they tell you about the optional threshold to buy before / during the purchase. Which would make the install safer and nicer looking.If you’re considering this door, it’s a great addition - but ask for the threshold and triple check your measurements- because door frames are rarely square or the same closest to the door vs at the edge.

Order came quick. Instructions/directions are very vague! Bottom track was to long, I had to cut to fit.Screws are provide (different sizes) No directions to which screw goes where? These are square bit screws. Casper provided a 1/2 inch bit, but the top track is 1 1/2 inches so does no good, will not reach to screw down. The bottom track sit’s on the foot base so a additional part will need to be purchased to cover area to keep people from tripping! Quality - not the worst not the best.A little disappointed. Right tools, knowledgeable handy person 1 hour install? Would be easier if frame had per drill wholes. You get what you pay for!
