So far, so good. But I've only had them a week. I bought them because other socks would not stay up when I wore rubber boots. The lining in the boots causes my other socks to "walk down" at the heel. But these stayed up. They go well over the calf - to about half way over my knee cap, and I am 6'1". The socks are not especially soft, but that's ok for me since they are work socks. They give adequate padding without too much bulk. All in all I'm happy with them at this point.UPDATE: It is now January 2017 and the socks are just like new. I have hand washed in cold water, and air dried them all these months. No stretching or shrinkage has occurred. They still hold tight and don't fall down during wear. I purchased more so I can wear a fresh pair every day and not have to wash them so often. Great socks that I recommend highly.UPDATE: One year later, January 2018. All the original socks developed holes about an inch beyond the heels under the foot. My wife darned them, and then darned them, again. Now, she is sewing patches on them. The patched socks are still comfortable to wear. I am amazed at how thick and luxurious these socks are, except for this one spot. The elastic is still strong, also. The only reason I am keeping the holey socks is because that is the only part not good and can be patched. I just ordered some more and will wear them along with the patched socks. Wish I could find these same socks that would do a better job of holding up to wear.

Bought these as a holiday gift for my homeless friend. Dark color doesn't show stains since he can't wash clothes. Wicking material keeps his feet dry during rainy season or just for daily wear. At / Below knee depending on height - my friend is 6'3" so they reach his knees & keep him warm when he's hanging out or sleeping. Thickness offers alot of warmth.If you or your friend aren't homeless, these socks are still an amazing buy!

My husbands favorite socks. He is tall and hates that most socks only come halfway up his calf then slide down. He loves these because they are taller and stay up. He has been using these for many years and will not even try something else he loves them that much.

These are super-nice, high-quality socks. They are really soft and very comfortable. They do run a bit big. I'm 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and I have to fold the top of the sock over on itself 1 inch to fit. This length does NOT cause any discomfort, so it's not at all a detriment to the product. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase more when I require additional pairs in the future.02/22/19 Update: Do you notice how many of the reviews complain that the socks are too high or too low? Perhaps the reason for this is that the socks differ in length from one pair to another and occasionally between the right and left of the same pair.I recently purchased a new supply of these socks (12 pair). My hope in buying semi-bulk was that they might be from the same lot or production run. It did not work. All 12 pairs differ in overall length. Most are within 1½ inches, but two sets are 2 to 3 inches shorter than the others, and in another set, there is a 4-inch difference between the left sock and the right sock. This inconsistent sizing adds time and causes an unhealthy annoyance when sorting the clean laundry. Is this a first world problem? Perhaps, but the black versions of these socks (purchased a few years ago) are all exactly the same length.The new socks have a moderate amount of thickness to them. While not as stout as some of my previous purchases, I find them a happy medium. Not so thick as to cause shoes to feel uncomfortable, but warm enough for winter when lounging around the house.I also read a few complaints about the coarseness of the sock against the skin. Do what I do. I wear all of my socks inside-out. I'm serious. It feels great. Depending on your work environment, you may have to trim some stray threads to improve their appearance, but it's worth it.
