Tighten each time to stay secure.
Directions are explicit. Follow them carefully and set-up is easy. Product works well. Adjust before using EACH TIME as using it can cause the knob to back off so it needs tightening again. But when secure, grab rail is reassuringly steady.

Super sturdy
This handle is amazing. Super sturdy and helps getting in and out of the tub. My husband has a back problem and we only have tub/shower combo so he uses it to get in and out. Every night he says this is the best thing you’ve bought!! Just measure tub width and just tighten it. We bought a second one for our other bathroom. I highly recommend it!!!!!!

Perfect equipment for folks with restricted movement
This grip is perfect for when your movements are restricted like getting in and out of the tub, and even using the toilette. Its supereasy to attach and adjust. Now after daily use for 2 months it still sits as tight as when we attached it to tubrim the first time. I'm never worried putting my full weight on it when getting in / out of tub. It's even great when using the toilet in my smallish bathroom. I totally put weight on and hold on the grip on the left side and commode on the right. Works both for sitting down and getting up very slowly in my case. Can absolute recommend for injured / handicapped people (in my case right hip fracture & fractured foot left). So it was absolutely vital to have a 100% safe tool aiding me during this time. I tell everyone that this grip is the best purchase I've made in a long time, a heaven sent for movement-restricted folks.UPDATE 2/8/2023 This is still one of the best products purchased. Everything said initially is still true. Sadly I can’t purchase it in Europe, and it’s too heavy to pack with my limited suitcase weight. I’ll miss it.

Perfect, with one minor adjustment....
All of the metal components are top-notch and very strong. We got it for my grandfather, to help him out of the tub, but when I tested it, I was very impressed with how solid everything felt. I'm a big guy (6'2", 240lbs), and I feel confident in this device's ability to help me up if I needed it.Only one issue: There are three foam-rubber pads attached to the surfaces that will make contact with your tub. The foam-rubber helps it grip the tub without scratching/damaging the tub. BUT, when you then fill the air with steam from a hot bath, the adhesive that holds those foam-rubber pads to the device starts to get tacky and let go. Before you know it the device has "walked" up the edge of the tub wall, leaving the foam-rubber pads behind, and is no longer secure in the least. I tried several different glues to get it to stop doing that, with inconsistent results (edit: I'm talking about gluing the foam pads back onto the device, not gluing it to the tub. There is absolutely no glue on the tub, and this whole device can be completely removed from the tub without anything left behind, simply by loosening the clamp/vise grip, which is done by hand, no tools.). After many experiments, I finally found one glue that did the job: Gorilla Glue.I removed the foam-rubber pads from the device, scrapped the excess adhesive residue off (with the use of a little Goo-Off). Then applied some Gorilla Glue and followed the directions for it's application (don't forget to activate it with water). Knowing that the Gorilla Glue would swell up like a foam and get all over the place, I put several large books (that we didn't mind if they got ruined) in between the "clamp/vise" of the device, with a few sheets of paper towel between the device and the books (so it wouldn't stick to the books too bad, necessitating a whole other clean-up project). Once it had all permanently set, I removed the books and paper towel, trimmed the excess a little, and then re-clamped the device to the bathtub. That was over a year ago and it hasn't moved a millimeter (literally, I check it often; this is Grandpa's safety we're talking about here). So, if anyone else has trouble with the foam-rubber pads sliding around, Gorilla Glue works well to resolve that issue. And once you effect that little work-around, this a really great product that exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely purchase it again if I were in need another.(UPDATE: It's been nearly two and a half years since I purchased, used my Gorilla Glue fix, and last installed this grab bar; and it is still working flawlessly. I have not had to re-seat or even re-tighten the clamping/vise connector. There has been no rust or other signs of wear. All in all, this product is working perfectly and I have absolutely no complaints. It is still solid as a rock. I am very impressed with the quality of this product and would immediately buy it again without a second thought should I ever have need for another one.) I monitor my reviews, and if you have any questions, please feel free to comment on my review and I will answer (might take me a few days).(UPDATE: It has now been five years, and this device is still operating perfectly. I have never had to resituate it, nor re-tighten it. It's literally been maintenance-free. And it still remains entirely rust free as well. I simply could not be any happier with this product (When was the last time any of us said that about anything?), and still whole-heartedly recommend it.)

Finally, a Great Solution to an Old Problem!
Finally, a solution to balance challenges in the bathtub. In the past, I've made the mistake of ordering suction cup handles that simply invited disaster. After my first fall, I lost hope of ever getting a handrail without having it professionally installed.UNTIL, I saw the Medline Bathtub Safety Rail on amazon.com. What can I say? The product is fabulous. Upon taking it out of the box, I noticed that it was heavy...not unbearably so but nice and sturdy. Imagine when I discovered it was actually made out of STEEL and not plastic. The item comes with simple directions although, honestly, I didn't even have to refer to them because it was easy and took just a minute, maybe less than a minute, to install it. The company does advise that if you have a bathrub that is not straight sided, you will not be able to use this item.Lucky for me, I have an old bathtub circa the 60's so I simply loosened the knob, opened the bracket, slipped it over the outer edge of the tub and then tightened the knob until it was secure. I tested it and it is absolutely perfect. The finish is white and blends in easily and is not distracting in the least. In fact, when I draw my shower curtain, you can't even notice it. It does not jut out in the least.Almost anyone could safely install this and, at this ridiculous price of $20.90, it's a steal of a deal.
