Epson Expression Premium XP 6100
Bought as Epson failed over many weeks, to diagnose fault in my XP-6000 (earlier) model. This replacement is wireless, but using the supplied CD for windows installation, it was fairly easy despite some reviewers having problems. The small display screen on the printer and its instructions/arrows/buttons take a bit of understanding, but easier for me having a similar one on the previous machine. Wonder why Epson NEVER seem to advise the buyer that the special tray for face-printing DVDs/CDs is hidden away underneath the printer and has to be slid out from the base? This print facility was my main reason for staying with the brand, as it has usually given reliable results with high quality images. The other reason for sticking with it, is it uses the same original Epson inks; pricey but again, quality.

Good machine but operating is not so user friendly
A bit slow but good quality prints and scans. The low rating is more to do with the ease ( or lack of) operating this printer. For example, if I want to print a 6 x 4 photo on a sheet of A4, I can't get the printer to do what I want to do.There must be ways of adjusting the settings but it's not immediately obvious and I shouldn't need to ring a helpline to resolve this. When it works , it works well but when it doesnt work for me it's a real pain. I paid £144 for this and it has to be one of the hardest printers to use.For normal prints lift up the top flap and switch on. Pull down lower flap. Then put out the tray fully to allow it to capture your prints.Whatever happened to switch on, hit print, pick up prints?????Personally, Epson have always been of good quality but when this one dies eventually, I doubt I will be buying another one.

Beware!
I bought this printer because we had a previous version which was great. So when that one started to show its age we obviously thought that we'd by a new model of the same type. But oh dear - straight out of the box you can tell corners have been cut. Flimsier, weaker plastic. It feels disposable, like something you'd use a few times and then throw away. But the most unforgivable thing is that they've taken a page out of Canon's book on how to fleece the consumer. First you turn it on and all seems fine. But when you hit print it takes approximately 5 minutes before it will actually start printing. In this time it vigorously cleans the print heads over and over. This, as you know, basically removes ink from each expensive ink tank by rubbing it away. So a generous amount of this ink is simply wasted. This wasted ink doesn't simply disappear. It builds up inside a reservoir inside the printer. When the printer detects that this reservoir of wasted ink is full it will stop functioning and tell you it needs a service. Servicing a printer costs more than buying a new printer and so voila! You send your Epson to be recycled where much of it goes to landfill and you have to buy a new printer. Lots of lovely money for Epson, lots of annoyed customers who will never buy another Epson printer. It's not a great business model is it but hey, what lovely short term profits Epson gets from people who simply go ahead and buy a new one thinking that's just the way things are nowadays. But for me personally, the most annoying thing is that whilst it prints black and white documents really fast, it takes around 5 minutes to actually start once you click ‘print’. So if you're printing just one black and white text document you might as well go off and make yourself a cup of tea before it starts. Don't be surprised if you put the kettle on; come back to the printer and still see that little circle symbol on the screen still revolving while the bloody thing is still 'getting ready to print' and p*****g away expensive ink.. A shameful rip off, ecologically unsound and a disappointing decision by Epson. But hey, who cares about landfill and toxic heavy metals pollution when there's a few bucks to be made?

So many faults
This product has so many faults, within 3 months of buying it, it said it needed a new maintenance box and wouldn't print unless it was changed. Ink has to be bought regularly as it runs out and won't print unless all inks are full. Now 7 months and it won't turn on with a message saying "turn printer off". DON'T BUY A WASTE OF MONEY!!!
