Vintage Fishing Rod Restoration Guide

I found plenty of useful information to get me started. Mr. Duffield's book is marvelous .
Mr. Duffield's does not waste time, or words. He tells you how to get it done. This is perfect for me. I'm an old school get er done kind of American Cowboy. Not to say I'm not delicate with my tackle. I am restoring a couple of old Heddon #17's, Black Beauties. I can apply all of Mr. Duffield's application to an American split Cane Rod Just fine. If I see someone in need of a how to book on the I would certainly recommend Mr. Duffield's Book. But I will go on to say, as for my own knowledge base I do plan on purchasing Mike Sinclair's Book on Heddon Rods, and Granger rods for the benefit of the detail these books provide about these legendary American split Cane rods.

Excellent Library Resource guide manual to add to your restoration Library.

Beginner's Guide
This publication seems to come across as a second thought in writing. It gives some useful information but nothing that is beyond common sense. I guess you could call this book a Beginners Guide to Bamboo Rod Restoration.

A little more experience tips would be nice
I built a few fly rods myself about 20 years ago, so I know the basics . I was looking for the best ways and products for stripping the bamboo and maybe some options on where to purchase certain products and places to get replacement parts such as snake guides and tip tops. If you don't know the basics and have no experience your probably going to be disappointed

Short but some good points
Book is very short and not much detail . God for what it covers

Begginers Book
Good book for begginers. Most of the data presented is common sense and directed to fly rod and high end restoration.

good book
Didn't address what I was hoping it would, defiantly written for the beginner, used in one of my classes. ok

Two Stars
way too generalized and has poor detailing in the few pics it has in the book....

Poor book not as expected
Content of book not as lead to believe , it really is not a description of full restoration merely a cosmetic restoration. Sand and varnish which I already new. I wanted info on complete restoration , I would not recommend.

A useful book
This book was excellent at giving basic techniques, but a little more detail occasionally would be nice. Overall, a good read and a good introduction to the subject.

Do not buy this booklet. Not even entry level information.
Really very poor. Could have gleaned the same information in a two minute Google search. About the thickness of the average flyer I get through the letterbox.

A well-received present
This was bought as a present, so I can't give a useful review, other than to say it was well received by a life-long fisherman
