I’d buy this set again.
I’ve owned a commercial kitchen and these knives are just as good or not better than those used in commercial kitchens every day. The weight and balance are good, tang goes all the way through the handle. Best part- if they breaks ....your out 19.99, not 70 dollars plus For a chefs knife. I see a lot of reviews with people complaining about the quality. They are not $300 knives but at that price point you’re just buying the brand. These are sharp and hold an edge if used properly. They are attractive and feel like a more expensive knife. The chefs knife is better than the knife I used for years / dropped and broke recently. The paring knife is a nice size. These would make a nice gift for anyone who likes the forged in fire show on The history chancel or if you want to upgrade from the cheap countertop block knives you’re using.Con- I would have paid more for blade safety covers at least. Never store a knife in a drawer without a blade cover- It’ll dull the edge and Is a hazard.

Yup, they're almost that good.
Having made TV commercials for many years and having been involved in the now famous Ginsu steak knife production, when I saw the overblown and laughable commercial for these knives, my reaction was "Ya, right. That's gonna happen." but it was enough to get my attention. While I doubt that the knife will do all those wild stunts, I will say that they are remarkable in everyday kitchen use, high quality ( for the price), sharp, comfortable, and well balanced to use. After doing some meal prep, I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, they could come close to the stunts with right guy or gal wielding it. Worth the money and a pleasure to use.

Seems to be great quality at a great price
I had been watching Forged in Fire and saw the commercial many times and thought, "hey, why not see if they practice what they preach." I really wanted to see if the quality of the knife would be worthy of carrying the Forged in Fire name. When the package arrived, I was not disappointed. The quality of the construction is nice and the knives were sharp, although it was not as sharp as the advertisement would have lead you to believe. (No way you are cutting a tomato one-handed without holding said tomato) But for the price I would buy it again. Heavy duty and looks like it will last.

Was Disappointed and surprised after some use.
What a deal - Right - the Picture Looked as if the handles were cherry or a wood. NO it is a plastic. So i was disappointed and they were to be gifts but looked cheap with the plastic handles - So I did not gift them, but used them. I was surprised how well they are made. I understand that the Handles needed to be the plastic to go in the dishwasher (never put Knifes in a dishwasher, ruins the blades) the blades are sharp and stay sharp, they are not too thick or thin but strong. So I would recommend the purchase of these knifes with the understanding that the handles look cheap.

Actually amazing
The pairing knife came with the right level of sharpness and the edge was straight out of the box. The chef knife had a pretty bad edge on it, it was pretty sharp out of the box but the edge wasn't straight and required some resurfacing. After about an hour on a whetstone the edge is straight and razor sharp. The chef knife is a little on the heavier side but is balanced perfectly for a pinch grip, and for the price the fit & finish is fantastic. Not perfect, but for the price I'm amazed. 440C stain-less steel is also no slouch.

Nice knife, but too thick for slicing
I have one high end chef knife and thought this would be a good backup. It turns out that the knife won't fill the role of a chef's knife -- it is simply too thick. I find it difficult to slice firm produce like carrots, apples, etc. I do not eat meat, so I cannot say if it slices meat well (I suspect if would). I find this would serve better as a chopper than a slicer, given they heavy weight of the steal. I have recommended this to others, as a great backup knife or good alternative for a beautifully designed display knife that can still be used. I don't let other people use my japanese chef knife, as it can remove fingers if you are not careful. This one I can display proudly for others to use without fear of an unintended surgical amputation of digits. If you are looking for something equivalent to a high end japanese chef's knife, this is not an alternative. But if you want a share knife that can chop without damaging the blade, this is a great knife for the price.

Comfortable and effective in the kitchen!
The knives arrived extremely sharp, and appear well made . I’m not too sure that they would stand up under the rigorous testing of the namesake show, I would not recommend these tests for the knives but I would love to see a show on this. Will they cut through rope, bamboo, whole salmon or pigs? Will they chop through coconut shells, pierce armor or stab dummies? I couldn’t say, but they will “kill” tomatoes, peppers, onions and such very efficiently. Excellent for slicing up your favorite cuts of meat.
