I have a pet chihuahua. I have had the worst time trying to get him housebroken. He realizes what we want him to do, it just seems that he decides to be stubborn sometimes. I have been following the methods outlined in chapter five. I have already noticed a difference. He is not perfect yet, but I see improvement, and he seems to be realizing how important it is to only potty outside. If you have any problems with your pet dog than I would recommend that you read this book. The information was presented in an easy to understand manner, and I think it is going to be a big help to me.

I learned some key techniques that I've never look at in-depth before. The most important method was 'clicking,' which lets the dog know he did something good. It brings the connection between the action and reward. I remember my friend used it one time but I didn't care enough to ask about it.And basically just the emphasis of reinforcements versus punishment is further reinforced in me.There's actually a lot more information in this book than I participated and it's surely worth the price, I recommend any dog owner with novice dog training abilities to benefit by checking this book out.

Good basic dog training book. I like how the book teaches you how to train your dog with commands while you stand side by side. Most dog training I see focuses on standing in front of your dog. I think the dog can maybe understand better when you are by it's side doing the action. It was good to learn more about clicker training. I've got 2 large dogs that I feel would benefit from that type of training.

My mom never liked the thought of having a dog in the house, so we never had one when I was young. But now that me and my husband have one, I am very new to taking care of dogs. I have no idea how to teach them the basics. This book have helped me get through it. It gives a step-by-step guide to train your dog.

This was not what I would consider a book. It did not give precise instructions in a correct order. With my first dog I took anobedience class and had a well behaved dog. I thought this would be like a refresher course and it was far from it.

Love it, I am so excited to teach my pup the"Leave it) command. I would love to learn more. And I am going to look for a clicker. And I will reread this to get it in my mind, what steps are important for me as the pet owner. I think my pup has too much run of the apartment.
