Crysto 3-Foot Retractable Cable Password Lock

I purchased this to lock my motorcycle helmet and backpack to my motorcycle when stopping to eat or drink. The tumbler lock mechanism stopped working after its 4th use while I was out. I spent about 15 minutes trying different ways to get it to accept my combination but no luck. I had to break it open in order to free my gear so I could ride home. Having to break it open exposed how easy it was to do so. Granted I did not buy this particular lock because I thought it was super robust, but it was VERY easy to break open. Disappointed :(

This may be partial to my use case, but this didn't work exactly as I expected.I'm using this to secure a fridge overnight. The intention was to latch handles together. While it more or less works, but there's some limitations in function that makes less ideal1) You need to have the combo entered to lock the lock, but it seems like you might want to unlock this and scramble the dials, but allow someone else to latch it without the combo. As designed, you have to push the unlock button to lock it.2) The retractable cord doesn't lock in place. You don't need the combination to adjust the cord length. If you expected to use this to lock two open loops together, this won't work for you.3) Finally, it might be easier to use if the dial was on the side rather than between the retractable cable and latch.

Note to self....don't try to reel the cable in with one hand. It snapped my knuckle like a mo-fo, and I found myself making up new curse words. But it has come in pretty handy to secure my belongs. I used it to secure my dry bag closed and to the boat while snorkeling. I used it to attach a locked money box to a table while I walked away. I used it to lock my laptop into my backpack and attach it to the table and chair while visiting the restroom at Starbucks.

I bought this lock hoping to be able to lock belongings I would leave when on vacation and I was unable to bring this with me. The lock is very flimsy and could easily be pulled a part, defeating the purpose. Sadly I didn't have a chance to return it because I extended my trip and ended up being stuck with it. Would not recommend.

I find it weird that so many people are giving this such negative reviews. It feels like people have unrealistic expectations to me. I mean, it's a cable lock that costs $11. It serves its purpose as a deterrent and works as it should and I feel like that's exactly what I should get for the price. I've used it several times on the slopes now with no issues.

If you travel on business as I do this is a "must have" item (...even more important for "vacationers"). I have it hanging from my backpack handle and use this to secure my backpack to anything solid/stationary while i'm eating or working on my laptop at airports or even when I'm having to leave it in my hotel room. The cable is long enough that I can even put the wire through my zippers also.

The factory setting is NOT 000and after trying to do step 1-3 about.... mmm like 45 times I gave up. Returning this lock. It’s a piece of junk. I think I’m going to go for a old fashion key lock next!

Instructions were very confusing. Once I finally figured out how to set the combination it seemed to work, and placed it on my cabinets.Then went to open it a few hours later and 1) The combination no longer worked and 2) It allowed you to extend the cable with any combination making it useless.Had to cut the cable to remove and return.
